On the flip side, the youth is clearly doing well. We signed Haydon but the other two are home grown.
That list runs on reputation, not quality. Obviously the two are linked, but you'll see declining players hanging in there long after they're the best as long as they're still playing regularly.
I've learned through twelve months of Dele Alli that it's clearly not based on quality. He's out for 7 weeks now too. FML.

The game's ticking over quite nicely for me. Detail levels are suited to the time I can offer. Well worth the money.
As for the difficulty, I've won a sole Super Cup in little over 4 years. I've never particularly been successful with fm, but we have had some decent runs.

I got to vote about getting rid of work permits a few seasons back and last summer my chairman came to me about whether we should accept an outside cash injection. Then this year in my European Super cup game I had a player I subbed earlier on sent off.
Nothing of that sort. I am having issues with reputation and finances. I'm still regional and haven't been given a substantial budget to date.
Liverpool - Season 2023/2024
Summary
£185M spent in the summer meant we failed the FFP for the first time in a long time and as a result were fined £5M or so but when you've brought in English players you're always going to be paying a premium. Thankfully those brought in improved us in various ways although I expected more for the outlay.
Dele Alli took an age to get going but posted up some fairly respectable numbers in the end. Robert Witham overtook our youngster Huw Sanna at left back which was a bigger battle than I anticipated. Neither entirely deserved to sit out. He filled in well on the opposite side too when Gomez got struck down.
Nav Dhanjal was a minor disappointment but not a complete write off alongside fellow newbie Reece Oxford. James Hayden completed the summer activity and he was arguably the best of the bunch.
Chelsea were clear of us by 14 points or so in December IIRC but we chipped away repeatedly until they dropped vital points against Burnley (0-0) a few games towards the end of the season. Our one and only opportunity to leapfrog them despite our own run of form. We beat Tottenham 3-0 at Anfield to secure 4th. Spurs hopes of stopping Champions League football returning to Merseyside suffering a first leg blow. I say that because we would face off three days later in the Europa League final too.
A huge improvement on last seasons shoddy finish.
Our hopes of domestic cup success was dealt an early blow in the EFL.
But by the seasons end we had rectified that somewhat claiming our second honour of the campaign.

As it was the second I gave away the Europa result but we were more than worthy victors.

So the 2024/2025 campaign should see another round of spending but I'm not too sure it's going to be homegrown given I want that league title so we move to the 'Dalglish Stadium' ready to dominate the world.
England have called up Luke Hunter, Joe Gomez, Reece Oxford, Trent, James Hayden, Dele Alli, Ben Woodburn and....Gavin Pilkington for the Euro's. Filthy.

The whole reloading to play again isn't really my cup tea but it wouldn't have been many since a draw would have done the business too. That said, I reckon I've saved less than 20 times in ten seasons so if I do ever reload its likely to be beginning of March for my son.

GKS Katowice 2031/32 season:
Domestic:
We actually lost twice in the league this year having gone 59 in a row without losing, utter disgrace.
3 losses domestically this season, shambles and it ends our run of 9 cup wins in a row. Robbed in a bitter Slaski Klasyk derby which has become bigger than El Clasico.
Europe:
This was my favourite season in it I think, we just went all out. The Inter games were utterly mental, especially the first leg as our ex-player Willy Fofana went batshit by scoring a hattrick and setting one up. His goal tally for Inter in previous seasons had been 1, 5 and 3 last year so fuck knows where he found those goals from. In the second leg we went crazy and stuck 4 past them in the first half with ease.
The final was a bit strange for me as Atletico ended up playing these 3 who all used to play for us:
Bought for £49m.
Bought for £88m.
Bought for £113m.
I was shitting myself at facing Ndiaye as he had 16 in the Champions League and our defence has been suspect but we controlled the game from the start.

Wanted an international team to roll through a few seasons quickly and see if any interesting club scenarios came up, and this lot are massive underdogs but have players in the English leagues and the outside chance of English-based newgens coming through. I'll stick with them for a World Cup campaign and see what happens.
Nobody's beaten the West Ham blowout yet, but I've just had the second biggest AI transfer in my game with PSG paying Liverpool £81m for Divock Origi.

Dybala just went to City for £86 million on mine. They bought three other £40 million+ players in the same summer and they're still only 4th come February.
Still nobody's come close to the £200m I spent on Griezmann.

No one in last year so I decided to make up for it:
They're all very raw but I think they'll come good. Considering some of the trash we've sold over the years I'm not afraid of making money back and then some. Already had a lot of offers to take them out on loan which I'll do next year as I want them to be tutored this season. They've all made a couple of starts each for us and done well so they've got something.

I seem to be playing a disproportionate number of my games the day before the other teams play. I know you can set matches for TV etc in the interface but is something like that preset too?

Southampton 2022/23.
This was the cherry on top season and I think that'll just about do me with FM2017. Too many regens once you hit this stage.
Team is close to unstoppable, mainly due to scoring a shitload after a change of tactic for the season to suit the personnel better.
The summer dealings. Son only left around March 2023.
