Meanwhile in the Championship, Bruno does the avatar proud, and 4 players are from Burnley.

Hard to argue with any of those. I don't rate Bellerin at all, but there haven't been any other good right backs that come to mind. That said I can't remember who Leicester's is at the moment.

    Maybe Dembele for Alli. Maybe.

Looks alright. I thought Smalling might get a shout, but you can't knock Morgan and Alderweireld.

He hasn't done anything since about October. Arsenal fans need to get over themselves.

Ozil and Sanchez are pretty hot-and-cold. All that lot (except maybe Bellerin, but it's kinda his breakout season?) have been consistently the best player in their position all season. Lanzini from West Ham would probably be on my list too, but not ahead of any of those.

Yeah that's true. If he'd been fit all year I reckon he'd be player of the season and Man City would be 5 points clear at the top. Pep's going to make him a monster.

Similarly, if Ronaldo had never left he would probably be up for the main award.

The full backs are shit, but you'd struggle to pick anyone better. The Leicester full backs at a stretch. Rose probably got in ahead of Fuchs because 'English, mate'.

Why not dump Rose and Bellerin, and replace them with Huth and Lanzini in a silky 3-4-1-2. Everyone's happy, right?

I'd agree with Smiffy on this. Seems unusual that it has been so well received. Lloris could have been in for De Gea I suppose and Fuchs has been very good too, but I think Rose and De Gea are well worthy of their place. De Bruyne would have probably been there instead of Alli if he'd played more but if you miss more than third of the games it's hard to justify putting you in unless you have the kind of season Suarez had after his ban.

I'm not sure it's fair to say Ozil hasn't done much since October or whatever. He's had a bad month or two now but then again, was Alli on fire during the first 2 months of the season?

It's also funny how I reckon Aguero might well end up scoring the most goals this season anyway, but doesn't seem to be mentioned at all in these things. It's like, "you won it once mate, let the goldenboy with the working class hero story through, it's what everyone wants".

Aguero might well outscore Vardy and Kane, but you have to take the teams they play for into account. Scoring 20+ goals for City is hardly the same as doing so for Spurs or never mind Leicester. Vardy and Kane have also carried their teams much better than Aguero, though I agree that he's hard done by this season as he's been very good as well.

27 out of 34 so far, but I think he's got injured early on in a few of them.

Only Mahrez and Vardy are in double figures for Leicester. The next biggest goalscorer is Okazaki on 6 goals.

City have three in double figures and Spurs also have three in double figures. Their goals are spread through the team.

Is that in support of my point or are you arguing it's harder for Aguero to get the goals as goals spread more evenly in teams like City where they have more goal threats?

I'd tend to agree with you, though. Without Vardy's goals they'd have been stuffed, though it's a pure collective effort (clean sheets etc).

Having just looked through Spurs stats as I was curious who the other scorers behind Kane are, only Alli has reacher double figures (10) in the league though as Lamela has scored over half of his goals in the cups. I thought Eriksen would be the third one before checking.

I mean, I see what you mean in that on paper City are the better side. It's a little strange to say that Aguero has been carried by his team when Spurs and Leicester have clearly been the better teams this season.

If anything, they play more with a focal point to their attacks that the somewhat swarmy City and Arsenal sides where anyone might score, but in a sense that even makes it more impressive that Aguero keeps scoring so much.

I'm not suggesting City's supporting act have been carrying Aguero, but that Kane and Vardy have carried theirs better in their time of need.

Mmm, not really. Most of Aguero's goals came from KdB, when they were both injured City were fucking dreadful, and that was with VONSON in the team.

Sergio Aguero is a borderline perma-crock, and a sensible team would ensure that they have a capable replacement instead of spending thirty million quid on somebody as shit as Wilfried Bony.

Just seen the team and its one of the few i actually agree with. I would prefer aguero to kane though but having kane over him is fair and deserved. Looking at the stats, aguero has never been in the team of the year is surprising.
