Seriously? What the fuck?
He's a fucking nutcase. I'd love it if he somehow manages to win.
The gash at the end though
There is a boxer fighting today for anyone that cares. His name is cesar cuenca and he is from argentina in the lightweight 140 pound division. He is currently 48-0-2NC with 2 knockouts. I know, only two knockouts. He is fighting outside of argentina for the first time today. I dont know anyone who has ever seen him fight but ill try and tune in and give some type of recap.
Povetkin is also fighting today agains a much bigger, taller opponent. When he beats him, he is being fed to wilder.
Anyone watching the Crolla fight tonight?
Hopefully they have some non-North American judges.
Is that on Sky Sports?
I want to try and watch Cotto - Alvarez.
Yeah, SS1, starting now.
The Yank judges probably still have Perez ahead.
I always think body shot KOs look a bit funny.
Tyson Fury is growing on me for some reason. I think having a British champion must out-weigh having a dickhead gypo champion, because it can't be anything else.
In pretty dull fight, canelo decesions cotto and abraham decesions murray.
Great to hear Crolla won. Anyone got a link to the fight so I can watch?
Fury being the new champion would be brilliant. He's such a daft bastard, it's hard to dislike him. Haye's coming back as well apparently.
Abraham looks like how I imagine Vladimir Putin sees himself in his mind. Wish someone would stove his giant German head in, but Murray didn't really have the power to bother him.
I'm also part of the "Fury's growing on me camp". I always thought he was just a bit of a useless gypo pleb, but, as it turns out, he's actually a proper mental. Should be an interesting fight at least next weekend.
Canelo was the deserved winner against cotto. I didnt have it as wide as the judges had it as they only gave cotto 2 rounds.
Its Klitschko vs Fury this weekend and there is an ongoing issue right now about Fury's gloves as allegedly they dont fit him properly. Klitschko has picked the gloves for him which i feel is harsh but thats what you can stipulate in contracts these days. Fury claims, he isnt wearing gloves that hurt his hands and will not fight unless its resolved.
Klitschko wins by savage brutal beating.
Fury is threatening to pull out of the fight because the ring's canvas is too soft :cab:
Surely these things are regulated?
I've never seen a canvas like it.
https://twitter.com/asifvali/status/...rc=twsrc%5Etfw
Obviously the fight will go on but he has every right to be annoyed at this.
What time is the fight scheduled to start?
10PM UK Time.
Cheers.
Fight is on and they're putting a new canvas on the ring.

Advert breaks on Box Office events really piss me off. I could live with one an hour or so but we've had 3 in the past 20 minutes.
Help a brother out.
Klit wrapped his own hands apparently.
What the fuck is this.
This is the best entrance ever.
And this is the worst national anthem ever.
God boxing is boring sometimes.
.....
Who won?
They'll rob him here.
I think Fury has this :|
You beauty.
Jesus, he's actually done it.
Mental.
I hope he goes full retard now in everything he does.
Fucking hell he's actually done it.
He deserved that.
Lol
He's actually fucking singing. :D
.....
What a guy
Alright, this is a great time to be alive.
The man with the name for boxing is now heavyweight champion. Love the pikey bastard.
I don't watch boxing very often but this was great.
Fucking brilliant. That is all.
Can't wait for AJ to knock this gypo off his feet.
It's a difficult win to enjoy. On one hand, I'm glad to see a change at the top - I used to love the HW division growing up, but it's been stale as fuck under the Klitschko's, and I really liked Fury coming through. He was quite humble, but with humour and a sense of enjoyment, as well as enough cheek to give us the circus act stuff we all love really.
But increased exposure has lead Fury to become a bit self-important, and to espouse his (not surprising given his background) abhorrently fundamental christian extremism.
Tyson Fury has always been like that. I went into this fight wanting to see Fury knocked out but the closer it got I started to change my mind. Come fight time I was well and truly behind Fury.
It's great for the heavyweight division and exactly what it needed. There's potentially some big fights now for us UK fans to enjoy. Fury, Haye and Joshua could all have a good old rivalry with one another.
It was a dreadful fight but due to the nature of the fight (underdog doing well) I was hooked. Very happy that I bought it.
That wasn't 'exactly what it needed'. It's one seven foot plodder replacing another seven foot plodder.
Anthony Joshua wiping Fury out in two rounds is what the division needs. Ideally that fight would have happened before this one and Joshua would have been the one taking Klitschko down, but this way will do.
HW: Tyson Fury
SMW: James DeGale
LMW: Liam Smith
WW: Kell Brook
LWW: Anthony Crolla and Terry Flanagan
FW: Lee Selby
SBW: Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton
BW: Lee Haskins and Jamie McDonnell
Current British boxing champions. Big difference to a few years ago.
There was quite a big detachment of the gay mafia in the pub I watched it in. What's the fucking point? Are they out picketing churches this morning? I would imagine not.
That fight is what the division, or perhaps boxing in general needed. No way I thought that Fury would get the decision, even though he clearly won the fight by a mile. It had classic German split decision all over it (although they are the worst they aren't the only ones who do it). It was genuinely surprising to see it called fairly. That's as big as the deathly dull Klitschkos hopefully being consigned to the bin of history. Does there have to be a rematch or can he go straight to Vegas to fight Wilder? Good to have a Brit hold the division whilst Joshua gets himself to World title levels.
Also, you have to give massive credit to Fury, even if he is a giant idiot. He was a laughing stock not so long ago. Very few people thought he could get to where he is now.
Turns out i dont know shit about boxing.
Fury fought a great fight. Wlad just didnt let his hands go, fury head and waist movement was a joy to watch. Im 99% sure wlad has a rematch clause in there with stipulations on when he can take it. Hopefully they can get him to come to wembley or a UK stadium.
The past two weeks, these legends have let me down. First it was cotto and now wlad. Its about time i accept we are going into a new era in the sport.
Once Klitschko loses control of the terms of engagement you'd have to think he's even less likely to prevail. If he can't do Fury on points in Germany, and by quite a margin, what chance would he be in England? It would be interesting to see if he could adapt though. Having to change your approach after so many years of the same old shit might be a bit tricky. He did rock him in the 12th mind, so it could end up a good fight with Klitschko actually having to come out and try to win inside the distance. It's probably time to call it a day though. His face looked rough.
Gypos are mega-traditional (if any of those big fat Gypsy programmes are anything to go by) and being of Irish stock they're bound to be nutter Catholics predominantly. Poorly educated too, which is a breeding ground for faith.
I hear you, he is 40 now. I did have it clear for fury, but wlad i think could still compete. I would like to see fury take a mandatory first, and then take on wlad or possibly wilder. Fury looked like he was getting to wlad a little but during the fight, just completely got him off his game.
I now have zero choice to respect fury. Man displayed great boxing skills.
Is the issue that outside Germany he'd need to be convincingly better rather than trusting the judges to give him the benefit of the doubt?
Definitely a good time for British boxing with the talent at the top. I think AJ will knock Fury out when it comes to it. I wouldn't be surprised if Vitali returns and wins either.
Remove me and add me back to the group Tandy. Wiped my phone few weeks ago and haven't been able to access it.
I think it is more the point that it is very hard to go to Germany (or any Champion's backyard) and get a points decision. To an extent the logic now applies in reverse, it won't be easy for Klitschko to come to England and get a points decision. I was surprised the margin was 3/5 rounds last night, especially with the point off, even if that was the right result.
I'm not his promoter don't worry. Makes the weight slightly more interesting.
Has heavyweight boxing gone really shit? When I was a kid it used to be a really big thing and I remember being excited about big fights. My old man took me to the social club to watch a Eubanks/Benn effort once and the place was absolutely packed, everybody there just for the boxing. Does that kind of thing still happen?
Nope. Mayweather and Pacquiao were arguably the last of the big money fights. There's not the hype any more.
There is plenty of good fights that happen just very few happen at heavyweight. Look down the divisions and you've got some incredible fighters who can command big nights.
The undisputed heavyweight champion is British. So what if he doesn't like gays?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/34956724
He did have a rematch clause in the contract and they'll meet again next year.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB_pRB_hKqg
What must Wlad be thinking at this point. To be fair to Fury he hasn't got a bad voice.
Hasn't got a bad voice? He went through about six keys in the first line.
What the division needs is to be scrapped.
The heavyweight division is fine. You take klitschko out of the equation and it becomes very competitive with several fighters and a few prospects coming through nicely.
Tyson Fury on the radio is pretty fun. The voice on the petition geezer...
He's obviously both mental and a twat, but he's quite entertaining.
But enough about Lewis
The Gypsy King of TTH?
Sky taking the piss a bit putting this Anthony Joshua fight on pay per view aren't they? I know there's some other decent fights on the card but still...
Aye, it's a bit of a fucking liberty. Not ppv worthy.
IBF have stripped fury of his title for not fighting his mandatory.
Pacman vs bradley 3 is expected to be announcment over the next few weeks
It's mental that they even had a mandatory challenger seeing as Wlad had a rematch clause in his contract.
I lolled at somebody getting the coppers in over his CONTROVERSIAL quotes. Who takes time out of their day to do that?
This is why football is drowning under a wave of "yeah, really happy I scored eight goals, but more important was the team got the three points" drone wankers.
Sport is having all the character sucked out of it for fear of pissing off full-time complainers and social media sheep/angry mobs, or the BBC and their hardcore feminist agenda (and obviously, subsequently, sponsors and THE BRAND).
He's not exactly running around raping women and beating up gays and getting away with it because he's World Champion. He just holds views beaten into him from birth and likes fucking his submissive wife (sounds familiar, doesn't it?) . If you disagree with him just fucking lol at him for being a thick twat and give him the Wolf from Gladiators thumbs down treatment. Don't try to get the Police on him, you fucking gimps.
Many thanks,
Sanadini
Its terrible, you cant even openly disagree with people anymore.
You have to wonder what the IBF are playing at.
I'm not sure you can really go around saying homosexuality should be illegal and expect not to be panned. Maybe he does expect to be panned, I dunno.
The good news is that it's drowning the Sports Personality award, which used to be fun but I'm currently looking at a photo of the panel judges and can immediately spot both Jermaine Jenas and Hazel Irving, so yeah.
Greg Rutherford threatening to withdraw from the competition as if he isn't a long jumper is good; so now, given that [Sir] Kevin Sinfield was always an outside bet at best, I hope Fury wins it and gives it the large'un having done so.
I thought it was all about 'Lizzie' this year.
The Queen? What sport's she in?
There should be a concerted effort to ensure Fury wins it.
In order for it be a investigation it has to be more than a few who've complained and then they'll have to investigate it simply to avoid any potential for accusations of police bias.
He has fought all his 'home' bouts in Germany for years - and he has a fairly loyal German following apparently.
Ah ok, fair enough.
It's more that boxing referees tend to favour the established, money-making fighter (like all cowardly sports officials) so you have to win these things beyond all doubt.
Fury has to win Sports Personality now.
Korean bots who claim to be from Nigeria. Like it.
"We interrupt this Sports Personality talk to politely ask Jimmy to return to work."
Joshua on in a bit. Should be a decent one.
Bellew fight now is pretty even for the euro belt.
Which is the fight before Joshua?
I'm heading to a pub for 9, was hoping to catch Eubank.
Anyone got a decent stream for this? I've got one, but it's sketchy at best. Quite entertaining this Bellew fight, even if it is a bit of a mess.
Mastic Tape did well to survive that last round.
I've got a full hd stream but it's with sports donkey.
Luke Campbell lost his first twelve round fight on points. People round 'ere like to tout him as a future world champion, but he's twenty-eight and should really be winning that sort of thing shouldn't he?
Enzo has knocked out Roy Jones Jr. The guy needs to retire.
Did he piss all of his money away, or does he just like boxing that much?
Walked onto that a bit.
:D
That was pretty good from the Venezuelan. Mitchell got turned over easily.
Crolla will find it difficult.
Time for Eubank.
Ooof. What a round that was. Fuck off Paulie with your 'smart boxing'.
This Eubank fight is a laugh.
You get a decent fight for once and the commentators can't stop shitting their pants about doing too much, not being boring enough and the like.
Yeah Eubank is trying to knock him out, and hopefully embarass him a bit in the process. And becuase of that he might fuck it up and that makes for entertaining viewing.
He's just talking about it from a boxers perspective. Cracking fight though. Both of them trying to hurt each other.
Bit of a crap way to end it but he was being battered.
I thought there were a couple of moments where the ref would step in. Fair play to the Irish chap, he was gutsy.
Jaws Theme.
:D
What a bellend. Although you'd probably want to be DQ'd after that first round. Joshua is just a beast.
That round made it interesting.
Aye, that mad swinger when he was on the ropes really shook him up. Some proper brawling tonight. Probably worth PPV status.
Over 2.5 rounds @ 1.61 - easy money
Hurt him big there. Great finish.
Thought Eubank was more impressive, but those two should make for some interesting times in British boxing for years to come.
Eubank was a lot better than the last time I watched him but he nearly got himself tagged by throwing so many in those combinations. His stamina is pretty impressive though.
Joshua v Haye will be interesting if the latter hasn't lost his touch.
Haye is fighting tonight on Dave after Storage Hunters. Starts at 9.
So he knocked out the Aussie binman in about 30 seconds. What a waste of time.
Didn't work for Ricky Hatton, mate. Should've broke out into a strut when he was going on about WWE, too.
I though they were going to start kissing then.
Wilder will get dismantled by anyone with a clue. He's got terrible footwork and no defense.
D'you reckon he'd get put down quickly by somebody properly good or is he tough enough that he'd make a fight of it even if he was outclassed?
Yes, I do. He was knocked out in the amateurs by a cruiserweight. He is very chinny.
Wilder stayed pretty tough against Stiverne, and Fury's been knocked over by a couple of cruiserweights since he's been a pro. It'd be a fun fight. both of them are pretty flawed.
I'd fancy Wilder against Fury, but not against Klitschko, for what it's worth.
Chisora might be challenging for the other heavyweight title as well. Joke.
When you step into the ring I will baptise you
Raised a smile.
The heavyweight division is a mess. :(
The heavyweight division is actually interesting for once. Some big punchers knocking about, quality isn't amazing but at least it's competitive.
Top five most meaningful fights in boxing right now is happening this weekend. Frampton vs Quigg in a unification bout at 122 pounds. Im going with frampton by decision becuase i want that Rigondeaux clash between the two. I dont really know much about Quigg and have only saw one fight but ill be going back before kick-off to watch a few of his most recent bouts. Also Crawford vs Lundy will end in a knockout win for Crawford KO win and Felix Verdejo to win in furious fashion and show his skills.
Looking forward to Quigg Frampton as well. Based on little, I think Frampton will win.
Roughly around 20 min until kick off
Ive got frampton up 5-1going into round 7. Quigg needs to turn up and let his hands go during the second half of the fight.
Close flight in the end. Any result is fair for me. Great round 12 for frampton.
Edit: frampton wins via decision. Quigg first six rounds killed himself.
Slow first five but improved. Well done to Frampton.
One of the judges giving Quigg the win. What a laugh.
I see these ryan babel looking youth in the ring after every fight
Some quality racism from Yafai the younger there.
"He'll win tonight and go and smash that little Japenese whatever he is."
This fight about to start has the look of a freakshow about it, which probably means little Marvin is going to win.
Nope. It was a freakshow.
Lol at this Sam Eggington biffter walking in to a dubstep remix of 300. His nose is about the size of the Spartan army.
Nick Blackwell is in an induced coma with bleeding on the brain after his fight last night.
Poor bastard.
I don't watch boxing but my twitter feed had everyone great and small saying the fight needed stopping, while it was still going, for about three rounds.
It could have been stopped the previous round but it wasnt that late.
He took a pummeling by the sounds of it. Brook had another bin man fight as well.
Brook next fight should be against a decent name or someone on decent form. Rumors of bradley regardless of if he beats pacman or not. Brook has fought three IBF mandatories now. Give him vargas or bradley. I dont want to see him against khan if khan is coming off a lose.
My Facebook was the same, Floyd. Stopped at the end of the tenth and most people seemed to start talking about the stoppage from the sixth or seventh.
He was busted open fairly early but it was stopped when his eye was swollen to the point he couldn't see. Other than that though he seemed fine so i'm surprised he's that hurt. All signs are saying he will be fine though.
Eubank Sr did give a funny speecg in the corner about him not knowing why the fight was still going on so that probably lead to the posts.
I watched it, it was quite a weird one as Eubank Jr spent half of each round showboating and giving the lad a chance to get himself back together. Blackwell actually caught him a good few times even in the later rounds and looked like there was a chance he could have caught Eubank with a suckerpunch as he was insisting on dancing around like a gimp, probably what made the ref hesitant to pull it.
Looked a fucking state at the end though, his eye was like a second head.
So some decent bouts this weekend. Pacquiao (earning $20m) returns vs Bradley (earning $4m) in the third installment. Pacquiao and his imaginary torn shoulder injury has now fully 100% healed. Ive got Bradley in this one. I don't like the way Pacquiao and his team acted after the fight of the century. Bradley scored a knockout against shit Rios but Ive got him and the decision in this one. Gilberto Ramirez is fighting Abraham on the undercard. Big things are expected of Ramirez. I don't like Abraham or Strum. so i pick them to lose every fight. Saying that, Abraham is still a strong character and i think it will be a close fight.
Joshua vs Martin is also this Saturday for the IBF title. People claiming this is a step-up for Joshua but im not sure. We saw how Martin won the title, he didn't even throw the winning punch. Its prospect vs prospect as far as im concerned. Some say Joshua may be rushed to early but its against a weak opponent in my opinion. Martin is a southpaw and I'm not sure if Joshua has come across one as big as Martin yet. Correct me if I'm wrong. Decent undercard for the Joshua bout as well. Lee Selby, George Groves, Matthew Macklin
Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley Jr
Arthur Abraham vs Gilberto Ramirez
Charles Martin vs Anthony Joshua
Lee Selby vs Eric Hunter
Matthew Macklin vs Brian Rose
Jamie McDonnell vs Fernando Vargas
George Groves vs David Brophy
Also Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury 2 on July 9 in Manchester according to peter fury
Anyone else having trouble ordering the Joshua fight? Box Office unavailable for the last hour.
Every time a boxer seems to win something the 'yet to tested' line always comes out. Same tonight, Twitter is awash with claims Joshua hasn't fought anyone good. Is boxing really that shit?
Having never seen that Martin fella fight - I was very surprised having just watched a replay. The guy was as mobile as fucking dumper truck. No head movement, very little footwork, just threw a few big lefts and hoped for the best. How on earth was he IBF champ?
Because Tyson had to drop the belt?
Tyson was stripped because the IBF mandated him to fight Glazkov. Tyson choose to rematch Klitschko instead. During the Glazkov vs Martin fight, Glazkov pulled him hamstring and quit. The belt was awarded to Martin
I'm jist glad I didn't pay for it. It was like watching someone beat up a kid in a wheelchair.
Frampton stripped of his WBA title, for not facing his mandatory challenger.
He's an odd character. He had his own fight scheduled in Liverpool. He needed a visa to get him here from Russia. The normal way to get one is give in your info and passport, 5 days later you get your stuff back along with a visa to come over.
He gave his info in and on the day he was due to come over he was nowhere to be seen. He eventually turned up back in Miami. Having not told anyone of his intentions and backed out the fight.
Rigo needs to sort his life out. Get rid of his backup team or something.
In regards to joshua, i wasnt aware how popular this guy is. Its ridiculous. If i was his team, i would look to do one of those open bus tour around london like they do after football cup wins. Seriously.
The last two fights on tonight's Sky card have been really good. This Amagasa bloke looks like the sort of silky technician with no durability who wilts in fights he's winning.
Whoever scored that 121-107 needs to be banned from judging a fight ever again.
So its the 2nd most popular prospect in boxing behind anthony joshua in action later. Its a decent test for errol spence vs chris allgeri. Allgeri isnt in great form and he did lose to khan and pacman in his past three fights.
Ive got allgeri purely from a betting standpoint.
Did you see the Warrington v Amagasa fight just now Sincere?
There's nobody more Leeds than Warrington.
There's a rugby song in there somewhere.
Earl Spence stopped algeri last night. It was a good performance. His body shots are vicuous, he puts in a lot of work to the body. He also became the mandatory for kell brook. Now brook has taken three IBF mandatory since he was stabbed and the boxing world has been calling for him to make a step up. Spence is still a prospect but if brook decides to fight him, it would be a decent fight. With the algeri win, it pushes spence into the top 10 welterweight
So its GGG vs Wade later. The level of opponents GGG is facing is poor. He really needs to do something and make some step up. Best fighter on his resume still, is daniel geale. Chocolatito who everyone is going crazy about is also on the same card. Ive only seen him fight three times.
Fucking Boxnation.
One of this chaps shoes has just fallen apart, I don't think I;ve ever seen that before.
Its canelo vs khan this weekend. People are saying khan is going to sleep but i really believe this fight goes to 12 rounds. Canelo isn't a big puncher, he is just a big kid fighting at some bullshit weight.
Canelo will down him within ten. Crolla is going and so is Chisora.
Canelo will wipe him out quickly.
If Khan makes it past round 5 I'll be stunned.
https://cdn3.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/1yY...knockout.0.gif
It's going to be glorious.
What a night that was, the Prescott fight actually. I think it was Taz who mentioned that Prescott to win by KO would be a decent bet, TTH took the bookies down that night
I dont feel stops khan. Khan always get touched, and he stays punch drunk for a ridiculous amount of time during his fights but he goes the distance.
The hype behind khan getting stopped is mega. He is going to put his roller blades on from round one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmtLAcB0giA
Surprised khan came in at 155, i thought he would have been lighter. He does not look very defined at his waist area. Im sure canelo will try and target khans body later tonight. Right after the weigh-in canelo was ramming food and drink into his mouth. It was funny, man must have been mega hungry.
Didn't he put something stupid on last time - like 9kgs between weigh in and fight. 9 fucking kilos.
Usually canelo weighs in at 155 pounds (which is a weigh class he has created and has fought at this weight for his past four fights) and then come fight night, he is 170+. He hasnt done fight night weigh-ins for a while but people are saying he is close to 180 now, come fight night. He weighed 174 against angulo four fights ago. Then he claims he isnt fighting at 160 because he isnt a middleweight...
How in the name of fuck does somebody put on 9 kilos overnight? How is that even possible?
It's common that they won't have eaten for a couple days if it's a difficult cut. A lot of it is water weight as well, before the weigh in you'll have sweated as much out as possible and only sipping enough to keep you hydrated.
It's all dehydrating your body and then rehydrating it after the weigh in.
I've seen some doing weight cuts (in the Ultimate Fighter house for the UFC) and it really is fucking shit, at times some are on the edge of fainting because their body simply can't take it.
What a complete farce, although I suppose if you made them weigh in on the day of the fight all you'd get is people fighting in an absolute state.
Can someone explain to me why weight matters? I know weigh-ins are events in themselves but the purge and gain can't be good on an athlete's body. And you're sparking this fucker out, regardless, in your own mind.
Well, you have to agree to fight at a weight, otherwise you'll just get Tyson Fury bowling in and ruining a fleet of bantamweights.
It does make a mockery of the weight classes but other than weighing them constantly I'm not sure what you do about it.
Has anyone in any combat sport ever cut as much as Anthony Johnson did in the UFC?
https://usatmmajunkie.files.wordpres...-on-fox-14.jpg
His walking weight is around 220-230 but he used to cut to 170 which is absolutely mental.
http://cdn2.cagepotato.com/wp-conten...11/03/1085.jpg
He now fights at 205 though:
http://www2.cdn.sherdog.com/_images/...0_1MG_0814.JPG
I can't imagine many fighters losing that much though, it really was nuts. At times he looked like he was about to pass out on the scales.
Its a perceived advantage if you are able to gain more weight during fight night. Although, whatever weight you come into the fight. It should work to your advantage if your under or over weight. Gatti gained 18+ pounds against joey camache and almost killed the guy in the ring. Weigh should be respected, not abused.
Awesome fight from Crolla there.
I forgot about those stupid noises khan makes everytime he throws a punch.
Everytime I see a sporting event in America someone properly murders their national anthem. Khan to be on his arse inside 4 or 5 rounds if he's lucky.
Blimey.
Ouch.
I really thought khan would take him the distance. I cant say the ko was because khan has a weak chin. That would have put anyone down. Canelo lined him up though from round one though. Shots to the body, made opening to the head with the pump fake.
https://youtu.be/HxmJZasgaz8
Good night God bless.
Yeah, chirst, that was a punch.
Still, what's the point of fighting such a weight mismatch? I don't know what it is but I've always disliked that ginger Mexican. Khan should just fight someone in his own weight division (Brook), or at least near to it.
Much preferred the Crolla fight.
Kahn at 155 or something whilst the fat ginger put on 20 more pounds overnight. Stay lean, man. Its not like all that weight goes to your fists.
I really hope I get to see GGG smoosh that pale cunts face in.
The fight will probably be at 147 or something equally ridiculous.
Was funny to see Khan and co calling him out to fight Golokvin though.
Got to give Khan his dues. Brave fight to take.
GGG v Canelo next and the former will kill him.
Khan was in a win-win situation fighting canelo. He lost to canelo means nothing to him ir most of the boxing scrne as he is suppose to lose in the manor he did. A lose to brook at this point ends his career. Imagine if brook would have done that to him....
Triple g is a straight beast, although ive seen a more wide range of skills from canelo and going into the fight, he will probably be favouirte .
The weight disparity looks ridiculous in the footage. If somebody has a solid twenty pounds on you, then they hit harder and than you and can take your shit all day, so what is the point? If you want to move up, do it gradually.
If the offer comes, you take it.
Khan is just not that good of a boxer.
He is entertaining though, which is probably better.
I have enjoyed him getting KOed constantly, yes.
That was a beautiful KO btw, very well set up. Lol at Khan throwing both his hands forward though.
Haven't followed in a few years. Who's good these days?
Terrence crawford has an upcoming fight against viktor postol at 140 pounds. Crawford si good to watch if you like fighters switching stances every 5 minutes and doing wild stuff. Deontay wilder is going to russia to fight povetkin later this month. Wilder is the real deal. He will be fighting joshua in the future given how joshua fighters are now being shown on showtime in USA. Golovkin is a beast, although his level of opponents isnt great. Kovalev will be fighting ward later in the year too which should sort out the best at 175.
I've never watched GGG (just seen a few highlights here and there) but is he really as good as the hype?
Canelo has won me a lot of money over his career so far but I thought he was gonna fade. Looks like he's only going to improve from here though. This GGG must be good if people think he'll make mincemeat of Canelo. He can't be that good, surely? :saywhat:
Given how weak the 160 division is, he just walks through the few punches you can land, hunts you down and stops you with viscous ferrous punches. He is deserving of the hype because his fighting style is so unique. He has 22 straight knockouts and is hunting down bernand hopkins record of 25 straight middleweight title defenses. I would favor canelo in the fight purely because ive seen different levels to his game. Mans forget, canelo is only 25 and his resume is extensive. GGG level of competition is poor, but the way he goes about destroying people has to be respected. GGG has
Just watched it.
The ending punch was brutal.
Can't wait to see Triple G wipe the floor with Canelo.
[gifv]4EPZZHD[/gifv]
It's a perfectly thrown punch.
Povetkin fails a drug test for the wilder fight. Not sure if the fight is going down. Tested postive for a banned substance.
Meanwhile, Tyson 'National Treasure' Fury is on it again.
This mayweather/mcgregor fight is gaining momentum. I dont know want to see that at all. $100m he is looking to get paid for that stunt.
It'll be a circus act if it happens. Mayweather makes a mockery of McGregor in a boxing ring, and McGregor finishes Mayweather in a round in an MMA bout. I just don't see the point, and I don't see how perhaps the best fighter in the history of the sport against someone from another sport entirely gets a license.
Just got around to watching the Crolla v Barroso fight and it was a cracker. There were shades of Ricky Hatton about that.
Considering he got outboxed by Nate fucking Diaz, what's the point in fighting Mayweather?
Oh wait, moolah..
He probably does believe that he could knock Mayweather out though too.
And he could but the chance of it actually happening are slim to none. Mayweather is just too damn good defensively.
So canelo has vacated his 160 pound WBC title. This means that they have now awarded GGG the title as he was mandatory for the title. I never though canelo would vacated to be honest. I thought he would have though GGG but thats some straight sucker diva tactics. I understand canelo never fought at 160 but thats not an excuse given he fought and defended the title once. I knew chavez jr was a fruad. Im about to throw canelo into that pit as well.

For fuck's sake.
Let's get Shannon Briggs turning up wherever Fury is please.
Dave is fucking this right up.
It seems that every couple of minutes the audio and visual go massively out of sync.
It's worse than an Asian martial arts film.
Now that's a proper national anthem. Is it really necessary though, can we not just get on with it?
Being accompanied to the ring by Moby
It would be nice if there wasn't so many jobbers in boxing.
This guy is basically a sparring partner.
How has he even won any fights?
What the fuck is this shit?
That jab knockdown :D
Fuck off David Haye.
It was a straight clownfest. Cant complain though as both the haye abd briggs are both on a comeback.
Get Briggs out there now so we can actually have a proper fight.
These two fights have been bullshit.
Jesus, that guy was beyond a bum.
It would be nice to see someone decent ruin Haye but I suppose making him fight on Dave against idiots like this is probably more humiliating than any beating he could take.
He's got a good chin.
Fuck off.
What was the point in that then? Prove he can sell tickets? It certainly wasn't a contest of any kind.
Not letting briggs into the ring and then proceed to let them kind of argue in the crowd together is stupid.
Tony Bellew is fighting at goodison park on sudnay for a vacant wbc title. Just like in the creed movie. I will be in the building. Hopefully he wins, i never realised he has never been a world champion. Just a contender. If he loses this, he is officially a gatekeeper.
Shane mosley at 44 is in a title eliminator against a fighter damm near half his age. Mosley look good against Mayorga last year. If he wins, he gets the porter/thurman winner.
Lived up to the bomber name there.
Not a bad weekend for Eddie Hearn and co.
That's great. :D
There's hundreds of amazing replies. The Beetlejuice one had me lolling.
Mon the Ev, fuck the kopites
Just read the replies. Someone else did it.
Oh well
Kell Brook vs Jesse Vargas, in sheffield at bramall lane on August 27 or September 3. Vargas is the weakest of the current welteright champions. Cant complain about unification bouts, and its a name step compared to brooks last few opponents.
Muhammad Ali is on his way out. On life support with respiratory problems.
Decent upcoming fights. The pick of the bunch being
Anthony Joshua vs Dominic Breazeale
George Groves vs Martin Murray
Keith Thurman vs Shawn Porter
I like groves. He really needs to beat murray. Groves has had three or four world title step ups and has failed every single time. Hopefully he gets a world title shot, wins and then we can get the degeale rematch. Im sitll not convivced about joshua. Im certain he beats Breazeale but i feel the other beats heavyweights such as wilder, fury and klitschko beat him. Breazeale last fight was against a 50 year old amir monsour who he stopped, but it wasnt spectacular. Keith Thurman vs Shawn Porter is a 50/50 fight. That one could go either way.
C'mon Murray, make me rich.
Ive met him a few times and e's the least intimidating guy ever. I liked that about him, just seems like a friendly bloke. Sorta like Bisping.
Canelo vs GGG has apparently been agreed upon with a provisional date next autumn.
What time is Groves Murray likely to start? I'm on a stag do and don't really care about Joshua but would like to see Murray win.
It is allegedly a verbal agreement. They had a written agreement a few months ago that both would take one tune-up fight (amir Khan and dominic wade) and then they would fight. That didnt work out well. Im not buying this verbally agreement for late 2017. Thats like 3 fights away.
Its scheduled for 9pm.
According to tyson fury, the rematch with wlad is postpond because fury was twisted his ankle.
Apparently he was told to keep off his ankle for 6-7 weeks.
How bad can an ankle sprain really be though? When I was a kid I sprained/twisted my ankle quite a few times playing football, walked it off then carried on playing.
The threshold for what's considered a 'twisted ankle' will be a bit higher for a seven foot professional athlete than for your eleven year old self knocking a ball around the garden.
Fury has been spotted out on the piss in recent weeks so this has definitely been known about for a while. And the stadium has barely sold out due to extortionate prices. It's all a save face exercise.
And another thing, why do these soft boxers always fall on their arse from a single punch? When I was 11 I got in a fight and took 3 punches to the face and they didn't move me an inch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTISR3ZwY34
I lolled at 'a very bad insult'.
Is this playing as Joshua's entrance? It's like something from Blue Peter.
Decent bouts last night. Everything went as expected in my opinion. I dont think they will put joshua against any of the named heavyweights anytime if they can continue to fill our areas with the current level of competition. They need to put joshua against some polish heavyweight next. I went to a small boxing card in walsall, not too long ago and the polish invasion in the building against some polish who didnt even have 10 fights was insane. Please with groves win. He needed that.
Eubank JR and GGG is gaining momentum. I understand eubank isnt really qualified but there isnt any other fighter at there that is publicly calling out GGG. Its worth GGG coming over to england fighting eubank jr.
Thurman beat porter last night. It was a close fight. Could have been a draw or a porter win. They are talking about a rematch. It was a good fight. Back and forth. Cant complain about the decision. Porter makes you work for victories. Man does not stop thorwing punches and moving forward. Man is a raging bull. thurman did well though. A good matador, will also beat a good bull.
"We can both play silly cunts, can't we?" Aye, Tyson. You show him.
I have a suspicion Golovkin would destroy Eubank.
I was at the O2 for this last night. Was quite good. Chris Eubank is still a complete don.
GGG would kill Eubank but fair play to want the fight.
Get a proper boxer in with Joshua and stop fighting bin men.
Breazeale's physique makes Tyson Fury look like an athlete.
Shocking
There is talk among the online boxing community that joshua should take a few more fights before he tackles wilder. Wilder is doing the right thing asking for the fight right now. Joshua is probably only going to get better. You need to take him out early and i agree with him. Joshua is a champion. Champions shouldnt need warmups. Joshua isnt a prospect anymore. He is a solidified star
Golovkin v Kell Brook in September.
That's a complete mismatch, even more so than Khan and Canelo.
What?
That popped up out of nowhere. Brook was in negoations with vargas and GGG was in negotiations with eubank jr. Hearn was expecting both deals to be completed this week. Looks like its at the full 160. Kell has claimed for a while he will be moving up in weight and he does look big outside the ring during off-fights.
I dont like the fight if im honest from a GGG perspective.
Hearn in an interview stating why the ggg/eubank jr fight didnt happen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AuMgE6Y7oI
Watched that Zeuge (?) fight last night and it really served to emphasise what an absolute miracle it was for Fury to outpoint 'Team Sauerland' in the reich. He looked a capable enough prospect, but the Italian easily won that fight and ended up with 2 drawn cards and a 1 point loss (for an overall majority draw, not sure I've ever seen one of those before). It really is disgraceful. No one in their super-middleweight stable looks like they would stand up against DeGale/Groves/Smith for me, even with big old Arthur getting back to ploughing through nobodies. That said, if you fight them on Germany you essentially have to knock them out.
Didn't stay up to see Wilder beating the nipple chap.
Rigo broke poor dickens jaw in one round last night. It was the only notable punch that was thrown during 3 minutes. Wilder needs to get to joshua early. Joshua is only going to improve with time. Wilder should really be all over him for his next fight.
I didnt see any doctor inspect dickens, but i guess if its the corner or dickens who decided to pull him out, then thats it.
AJ mandatory, joseph parker was in action last night. He looks horrible. They are billing him up as a challenge for AJ, but it will be an execution. Wilder has injured his hand and arm and could be out for quite some time. AJ is lining up stiverne as his next opponent. If he can stop stiverne, it will be a statement as stiverne hasnt been stopped before.
Its Crawford vs Postol this weekend which im looking forward to. Unification fight at 140 pounds. Im going with crawford but its a close fight if you ask me.
Frampton
Pacman has annoucned he is coming out of retirement to face vargas for the 147 pound wbo title. Just stay retired
Brook vs GGG at the 30 day weigh in. Brook weighs 176 pounds compared to GGG 165 pounds. They are scheduled to fight at 160
Does Brook have any chance whatsoever?
And how are the bookies calling it?
He's going to get battered. I'm sure the bookies are reflecting that.
A lot of people are claiming becuase brook is bigger than GGG, brook has a chance. Brook cant win this one, getting punched by people ate 147 bounds is different from being punched by a devastating 160 pound beast. GGG is the real deal and I suspect he will stop brook late. I dont think GGG will go in there are try and win the fight early. He has 20+ straight knockouts and i think he is now at 15 middleweight title defends. He wants that b-hop record which stands at 20.
Brook is @6 to win right now
Ring walk will be in about 5-10 minutes.
GGG is going to destroy Brook.
Gala.
'mon sugar ray sheffield.
Club version of 'Will Grigg is on fire' being played at the arena.
Jesus fucking christ.
None of the Stream2Watch pages are working for this, super frustrating. Anyone got a functioning stream?
Golovkin's wearing a carpet.
It was Will Grigg.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvjBAJiEH0E
Will Grigg should be ashamed of himself.
I'm always shocked when they show Prince Naseem at these events. He's fucking huge.
I love how fat Naseem is these days, not even trying to stay in shape.
I keep meaning to but I only ever try to make it work about 5 minutes before I want to watch something.
Hopefully Borat is going to be holding the round cards in his mankini.
Nice opener.
Thought GGG would go for the kill when he hurt Brook but Brook recovered well and then ended the round well.
Problem is what Brook gave him in the second round would have put a lot of people down GGG just walked through them.
Jesus.
He's going to get minced eventually but this is potential classic territory.
Started so damn well.
I think Brook might have a broken orbital bone. His eye is starting to puff up and he's not happy with it.
Nice work ref.
:D
Referee :D
Yeah, must be a broken orbital bone which is a shame.
Would love a rematch.
What's the point in a rematch? GGG is the superior boxer so neither gains from another one sided affair.
Brook should drop down now and dominate.
He says it got to the point where he was seeing 3 or 4 GGGs. So I'd be surprised if it's not a busted eye socket.
Brook only enhanced his reputation.
Without the eye injury you could see him having a chance ....... to go another few rounds before getting his head knocked off.
Well, at least I didn't wake up and find out he'd died overnight.
Someone is going to walk through Golovkin eventually, maybe when his power fades in a few years. Don't think it's going to be a welterweight though. A big Ricky Hatton would do the trick. It'll probably be that ginger prick in 10 years.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/37456191
Fury is constantly broken now it seems.
Is that code for him still being too fat?
Or coked up.
He's chucking it now so that he can laugh off any suggestions that he's scared by saying he's beaten Klitschko before, rather than actually having to deal with them when people say he's shit scared of Joshua.
No one even cares about the fight anymore. Surprised if we see fury box again.
Great fight between Linares and Crolla. Linares just had too much. Lovely boxer, great hand speed and variation in punches. Crolla is a tough bastard though.
Not sure I agree with the rematch but money talks.
I'd certainly watch that again but I suspect the result will be much the same.
I dunno. The fight probably came down to that right hand from Linares at the end of the sixth round. Without that I think Crolla was looking in good shape even though he was clearly behind on the cards at that point. Really took the wind out of him, nicked another round for Linares (that Crolla was easily winning) and meant the later round pressure was much less intense. It was a good fight and definitely worth a rematch.
Joshua against Wlad is close to be doing done.
Should be interesting.
Nothing Wlad has ever done has been interesting. The giant, plodding, jabbing cunt.
Tyson tested positive for cocaine. Quelle surprise. He was in Marseille the day after he broke his toe hoovering up the local product racking up a Ł5k bill.
He'll be done now, he's made his money.
so there's basically fuck all in October or am I missing something on the calendar?
Leaving the way clear for Joshua to win it, as Sky tells us we all want.
Isn't Bellew fighting soon?
Fucking hell.
:D What a man
That's a proper apology.
I hate the guy but must admit that's good.
TYSONMONTANA ✔ @Tyson_Fury
Boxing is the saddest thing I ever took part in, all a pile of shit, I'm the greatest, & I'm also retired, so go suck a dick, happy days.😀😀😀

You really showed them Tyson.
He's absolutely mental.
He's also posted a video of a TOP ATTORNEY AT LAW talking about how corrupt Boxing is and how they've tried to keep Tyson down.
He's on no drugs and Klitshcko has everyone in his pocket, lol.
Pity the poor buggers sent to collect him when he's inevitably sectioned.
An undisputed champ playing the victim is kinda dumb. I'd chalk it up to fight hype but there's no fight to hype.
An undisputed champion that has been doing everything in his power to avoid defending the belt. Still, top quality scenes on offer here.
Bellew.
:D
Think he might struggle against Haye, but what a battle of the gobshites that'd be.
I'll put you and that pathetic haircut to sleep. :D
Haye should spark him. Then he can fight Joshua and retire again.
If he fought like he did last night it would be hard to see him surviving a round, but he is a bit of an enigma. Sometimes he boxes sensibly, other times it's just 100% whirling. He let that chump land a fair few clean blows even though he was completely shot. I don't think he'd be able to take those off Haye and he does had a bit of a penchant for being put on his arse.
No idea why Joshua is going to fight Vlad at this stage of his career. It's hard to see what he has to gain and it's a big step up in class. Haye would probably give him a good fight as well. He may not have the size but he hits hard and Joshua has never really been tested all that much (White made him look a bit shakey and he's hardly world class).
I secretly hope Fury's pulled this stunt to elongate Vlad's career by four more fights.
Joshua/Klitschko to be finalised in the next few days.
Pacman.
https://youtu.be/_vEg1m-3mFM
Ward v Kovalev. Great fight.
It doesn't even have the result. Bit of a home crowd decision but it was close. While Ward won the second half of the fight, Kovalev won the first and put him down. Rematch.
I was just gonna say that it cuts off a bit prematurely. :D
Haye v Bellew. It's going to be tragically one sided.
My football stream has just switched over to what I assume will be the Joshua fight eventually.
42fe51591598d905ab011a9c8339150f8391dfa7
Nice one.
There's a shit ton of streams on SportsMania, it's crazy.
6/1 for first round win.
All aboard the Jeff Horn bandwagon!!!:box:
This fight (Chisora vs Whyte) is awesome so far, but can't help feel like it's gonna go downhill now they're both gassed.
David Haye dropping "Tony Bellend" into his commentary. :D
This is a proper tear up.
Spot on, Chisora would have had him there if he had anything left.
That's probably one of the better heavyweight fights I've seen in a long time.
Swinging off their feet.
Loved that fight and it should have been a draw IMO. Really good tear up.
This one will be pants in comparison.
Loved that, shame there was a loser really.
Molina doesn't look like he fancies it at all. Absolutely shitting himself any time a glove comes his way.
Dog Park then 3 bonsai starters to be reppoted for the morning then Ill try and get my Stimson python hatchlings to eat pinky mice.
What an awful fight.
I reckon Molina threw about eight punches over the course of that fight.
Complete mismatch.
Can't they just give us a proper fight with Joshua?
I don't even know what averted means :dirk:
Lol at Klitschko with his call and response nonsense.
Will Joshua beat Klitschko, do we thinl? One of the rare I-might-actually-like-to-watch-that matches that crops up.
Didn't even bother with the Joshua fight.
Let's go champ!
I think Joshua will win but it'll be tough. Klitch hasn't fought in ages and some of his reach advantage just won't be there. I'm not sure if Vitali can hurt him.
White v Wilder will be a more interesting fight.
Bernard Hopkins has been knocked out again and hopefully for the last time. Retire this time and stop breaking your brain.
It's a bit mental to think that Joe Calzaghe fight (which I still think he won) was over eight years ago. He probably hasn't thrown or caught any decent punches since.
Good to see twat junior back in training.
This DeGale fight is good fun. Reckon Jack is up on points at this stage.
Lol at Mayweather.
Mayweather is such a prick (who knew?).
DeGale should have offered him out at 168. Couldn't even fix a fight in his own backyard (if he's that bothered about the judging). He should then have offered to just take Jack's belt now if he doesn't want to fight at the weight again. I guess they had some yankee mega fight against Ward at light heavy in mind (yawn). Tremendous heart from DeGale to survive the last (and the seventh was it?). Shame he got caught with that one late as he was dominating those rounds and was going to walk a unanimous decision without the 10-8. Can nly magien the seethe that would have produced.
Pacquiao v Horn in Brisbane this year.
I know ITV is crappy picture quality anyway but this pay per view picture is super grainy up close.
Also put a few quid on Eubank to lose on points. 50/1 :huhu:
When is the battle of the gobshites likely to go off?
Stick to commentating I guess 'Paulie'.
:harold:
10:30-10:45, I read this morning.
Does anyone actually think Bellew has a chance?
He's definitely got a chance. Everyone is expecting the David Haye of 4 or 5 years ago to pitch up and knock him out, which may well not happen. He could be a bit of a fat, ring rusty mess. Doesn't help that Bellew has been floored by virtually everyone he's ever fought.
Also, that 75/1 must be KO in a given round.
This ringwalk looks like an ISIS execution.
I thought some of those were knockdowns not pushes.
Big right to end the round too.
Haye is all over the place.
He looks knackered, the over-muscled wank.
I was so close to sticking something on Bellew in the 9th so this had better last another round at least.
Bet the Geordies are going mental.
Lol at getting knocked out the ring.
That ending :D
That's got to be the end of him.
I'm out of the loop somewhat, but why are they calling this a massive upset? David Haye isn't anybody.
Bellew went up 2 weight classes for this, Haye has always been a heavyweight. Hence the upset.
Yeah, but that was on the assumption that he caught him (and Haye is a light heavyweight really). We're not talking about when Mike Tyson got laid out in Japan.
David Haye fighting like he has lego in his boot.
Toggle Spoiler
I should've put more on. :groove:
I wonder if @SincereTheRebel is there.
No.
Bellew was fighting at Cruiserweight (one below Heavy) and Haye was a Cruiser for a long time.
They just expected Haye to wipe him because of his KO ratio and the fact he's had bigger fights. His odds were reflecting his 2006-2010 career, the people he's faced in this comeback were a disgrace prior to this.
They're just saying the same things over and over again in these interviews. Does David want a rematch? He really should tell us.
Always been a heavyweight in the sense that he spent most of his career at a lower weight, but yeah, he was the bigger guy (for the first time in his heavyweight career probably).
Would have been a better fight at cruiserweight, in all likelihood.
Can't help but think it will be a ridiculously one sided freak show.
Still can't see it happening.
Anyone bothering with the GGG fight later?
What time will it be?
Not with a 2am start time (or later).
I'll download it and watch it tomorrow.
Edit: Bet365 are being kind, everyone else is reporting 3am.
People suggesting Jacobs should have won on points last night. Wonder if it'll be a rematch.
The knockdown was the only obvious difference, if they go again Golovkin needs a more sensible plan than trying to knock his head off with one punch.
Just watched it.
I thought Jacobs edged it by a round but there were quite a few rounds which could have gone either way.
Jacobs looked really good.
http://www.lowkickmma.com/UFC/ufc-li...onor-mcgregor/
Floyd has hired Kevin Lee to help him train for McGregor.
He could hire Iain Lee and still win.
Linares was brilliant last night. He's such a classy boxer, movement and hand speed are outstanding. Really very good.
Crolla is brave and did well to last but the outcome was never in doubt
Yeah, Linares was unreal. Made Crolla look like he was moving in slow motion. No real shame in losing to him, although it'd have been nice for Crolla's story to have carried on to Vegas or wherever was next. Up the weights seems to be the prevailing view.
As one sided a tonking as I've ever seen in the Canelo fight just there. That's probably taken about a year off Chavez's career and about five off his life.
And straight after, Canelo and GGG is announced. http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/i...ite-determined
Should be an absolute cracker.
Anybody watching tonight?
Who what?
Warrington Martinez.
Never heard of them.
Who won?
Warrington. Pretty shit.
You should of watched Eurovision with us then :baz:
Mayweather vs McGregor has been agreed for 26th August. Shambles.
Thought Floyd was done. Never heard of the other lad but my guess is a boring unanimous decision.
McGregor as in the Irish UFC bloke. Pointless fight. Either of them wins comfortably at their own sport.
I was going to say, if Mayweather was even slightly interested in doing so, he'd end this 'fight' (neither will try hard) in 30 seconds.
I hope he does. End this shit here before we have Tiger Woods vs Michael Jordan at Formula One.
Mayweather has broken his hands a hundred times each. He probably couldn't throw a knockout punch at this point without spending six months getting them put back together in Germany. I don't think he's won a fight inside the distance since Hatton, and even that was down to volume punching. Even going full tilt he'd need about three or four rounds to do McGregor in without giving himself arthritis.
Correct. McGregor will be praying Mayweather goes all Jose Aldo in the first thirty seconds. His only theoretical chance is if he comes flying in because McGregor's counter punching is ridiculously good.
It won't happen but if Mayweather is hit from a left hook combination - night night.
Edit: pretty sure this will break the PPV record as well.
Meanwhile, in The South:
*strumming banjo noise*
I'm sure they did. Probably lucky he didn't die, in all fairness.Quote:
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has been charged with possession of cannabis.
Tuscaloosa Police in Alabama said he was initially pulled over while driving for a 'window tint violation'.
Officers said they then found drugs inside the vehicle.
Tuscaloosa is actually pretty diverse as opposed to most of Alabama.:lewis:
Sidenote I'm so fucking excited for the Ward-Kovalev fight.
German boxing crowds remain very strange. It's like they're at the tennis.
That lad Bivol looks incredibly good.
The referee in this Rigondeaux fight and whoever he's consulting at ringside are making a complete arse of this. They've spent a good ten minutes discussing the wrong rule violation.
More terrible refereeing in the main event. That looked like about 4 low blows but even if they were all legal it was still a criminally early stoppage.
He's ruined a great fight.
I don't think I've ever seen a fight end like that. Farcical.
What happened?
Ward hit Kovalev with about four dickpunches, he went down, the referee immediately stepped in and declared it a TKO win for Ward.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ineaHIHmT3Q
Clear 3 low blows for me.
He'd hit him low a fair few times in the fight and earlier in that round (it was one that put Kovalev in trouble in the first place).
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/40434050
Benn vs Collins 3 :cab:
Boxing is second only to horseracing in the rubbish corrupt sport stakes.
My heart wants Horn but my head says PacMan
It's amazing just how quickly and completely everyone stopped caring about Pacquiao. Around the time he was punching the chin off Hatton he was my favourite fighter in boxing and even I won't be bothering to watch him for free tonight.
This has been a fun fight so far.
Holy fuck!
Lots of holding and hittingbrhind the head from horney. But a win, is a win.
:D
What a mug.
I didn't watch it (wasn't planning on being up, don't have kids) but it sounds like yet another dodgy decision by the officials. Everything I've read has Pac as the winner. Fair?
I didn't watch it either but apparently the stats were all in Pacquiao's favour, so I'd imagine it probably was a home judge affair.
Still, lol at the whole thing. I read something saying the plan was to have him smear this nobody all over the place and use the worldwide audience to his incredible showing to 'what, you chicken' Floyd into a rematch. Instead he's been beaten by a teacher.
At the end I was telling everyone at mine that it's probably unanimous towards Pacman.
I felt like the resident boxing expert until that moment.
Oh, it's lulzy alright, I've never even heard of the geezer. Just getting tired of the officials being so obviously bent.
Australian boxing is on the rise.
Very impressed with Josh Taylor. Really crisp boxing.
Find a way to watch Easton v Jamoye, mad slugfest fans. It's absolute carnage.
Both great fights.
Taylor was different class against Davies. His foot work, ability to move in and out of combinations and defensive work were really impressive.
Jamoye was odd. Slapper of a puncher who kept walking and throwing punches. Liked his bravery.
The whole press conference was corny
36:54 Stare down
48:30 McGregor speaks
54:51 Floyd speaks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRpITDL-vcA
Isn't every boxing press conference cringe-worthy?
Actually, im going to agree with you. They all are shit. But that one seemed forced and not naturally at all. Floyd trying to convince everyone he still hasnt cashed his $100m cheque is embarrassing.
I thought it was great theatre, but then I don't follow boxing much so I'm not a hardened cynic when it comes to this.
McGregor will still get his face caved in.
Unlikely, he's too decrepit for that these days. McGregor will just tire himself out trying to go after Mayweather who will probably just poke away at him enough to avoid embarrassment and win on points.
Mayweather stops McGregor within 6.
This is McGregor's first fight. Rumour has it a few years ago he had trouble with mid-level Irish boxers in training.
There's no way he'll be at all competitive.
I'm more interested in he Eubank fight this weekend.
Even the remote hope of someone sparking Mayweather isn't enough to tempt me to watch that shitfest as McGregor seems a bellend of equally biblical proportions as well.
Mayweather has broken his hands so many times that he can't even throw a full strength punch at all these days, and he was never a murderous puncher in the first place. He hasn't stopped a fight since Hatton about ten years ago, and even before that his stoppages tended to be in rounds seven to nine, because he'd beat people with volume. He'll win, but nobody will be getting their face caved in.
Any MMA fighter is going to have trouble with someone who's exclusively trained in boxing since they were a child, never mind someone as good as Mayweather. Anderson Silva, comfortably the best striker ever to compete in MMA, had a brief sojourn into boxing and lasted two rounds against a complete nobody.
McGregor's suit for the press conference had pinstripes made out of the words 'fuck you' over and over again. He's a colossal thundercunt.
It really is the equivalent of one of the Browlee's trying their luck at the Tour de France. They're decent at cycling, but they have absolutely no fucking chance.
They'd probably give it a go for $100m.
I hope the other two press conferences are set up like that. Hopefully McGregor mentions about Floyd being a wife beater soon enough for the lols.
Mayweather said in his press conference, defending McGregor, that he hadn't been beaten while standing up.
I reckon this is the shot that essentially ended the first fight with Diaz - he never came close to recovering from it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nksckBIeKc
He doesn't defend his head anywhere near well enough. Even if Mayweathers fists are fucked he has only ever had them as his weapon. He will know how to test an unguarded chin better than any UFC type.
That said, I did enjoy the press conference. He's a strange but funny fucker.
"What are you doing with a school bag on stage? You can't even read!" :D
Floyds hands are a none factor. When floyd throws punches, he usually lands. I think he has the best percentage thrown/landed in boxing history.
My only concern with floyd is that he is 40, been inactive for two years and has been eating mcdonalds quater pounder meals since retirement. What condition is he really going to be in?
Has he really though? I can't imagine Mayweather doing anything the jeopardises his legacy.
His legacy at this point isnt going to change, win or loss. He is 40 and has been retired for years. He has a built in excuse vs the most popular guy in mma. There is a reason why he isnt coming back to fighter someone in who is a professional boxer. Its a typical 'cash-out' option. Taking the biggest fight, for the least amount of risk.
Its interesting though. Has connor ever fought someone who was an elite boxer?
Floyd will win.
Conor's only chance is to land a big left.
Nope. He wasn't good enough to make it as one and got slapped around.
Be great if they did go with 4oz gloves. Can McGregor feign for going for takedowns and shit? Or will he get disqualified?
Floyd will hand punches whenever he feels like in my opinion. He does not have KO punching power, but the accumulative punching will take its effect. Ive been informed connor has a strong chin. I dont feel connor will get stopped, it will go the distance. You can get create odds on the distance
Im sure there are some serious money penalties for connor doing any mma moves. if i was him, if it wasnt going well. I would kick mayweather in the leg, and hopefully its judges as a foul and not a disqualified. Floyds leg would be fucked from one kick wouldnt it? That will affect floyd for the remainder of the fight, so ive been told.
If you headbutt someone in boxing or punch someone in the dick, its judged a foul and you get a point deducted. Given connor is from a different sport. He would probably get straight disqualified as soon as he lands some mma move.
They have already put loss of purse stuff in for any MAMA stuff.
I'm not sure it was mentioned in one Fighter and the Kid or Big Brown's Breakdown podcasts.
The only way there's even a remote possibility of McGregor throwing a kick or whatever is if he gets badly rocked and starts fighting on instinct, and even then it's probably more likely he'd go in for a takedown, like he did with Nate.
I think the only reason it's even being talked about is that McGregor knows he's not just giving up the ability to actually kick by taking on a boxing match. In MMA his opponent has to be on the lookout for kicks, knees, takedowns, and elbows, and getting into a clinch is vastly different. That split focus is half of what lets McGregor slip his left hand in through the guard, and he's giving that up as well as fighting in bigger gloves that allow for a far more effective guard, so I think there's some mind games going on with McGregor and co introducing the idea that he might fuck up and just boot Floyd's head off.
Part of me would be highly amused if he just used it as an excuse to beat the shit out of Mayweather. Sod the rules and the money I'm clearly harder than him sort of thing.
That would be awesome.
As would the 400 stone of minder that landed on him moments later.
It would be absolutely wonderful. It's probably the only way everyone can lose. Mayweather gets knocked out and the record setting win has an asterisk beside it, McGregor gets shot and killed within a fortnight, and the riot in the immediate aftermath of the fight would be such that nobody would ever think of putting on this sort of circus again.
The web have memes of floyd being KO'd on standby. Its probably been like that for about 8 years now. Waiting to unless them to the world.
It'll be a boring shitfest of defensive pap versus a slow, inexperienced clown who'll lose every round on points.
McGregor is in no way slow.
Watch some of his actual fights.
He's not slow.
The one side by side training video I've seen was nothing but those pad routines, and you can't adequately judge a fighter's hand or head speed from those. The sports lab that had Ronaldo putting free kicks through windows tested his reflexes, hand speed, etc, and he came out top in just about every test they put him through.
The hype for this fight has been highly entertaining for the boofhead part of my brain.
I've enjoyed it. Toronto was brilliant.
They have sold me I'm definitely purchasing PPV.
Couple questions for the ufc heads.
What fight should i watch of connors that show his boxing skills
in ufc, they do 5-5 minute rounds. Is connor fitter than the usual 3-12 minute rounds in boxing or is it all the same
Has connor fought a high level boxer in the ufc
Is connor really the best boxer in the ufc
Has connor got genuine punching power or is it because they wear gloves with little resistance
Start with Nate Diaz 1 and 2.

His first UFC fight was probably his most impressive demolition job in pure boxing terms. There's a bit of kicking and kneeing, but most of the heavy work is him shifting in and out of range beautifully and landing some crisp uppercuts. That and the Alvarez fight are the ones to watch.
In endurance terms he's probably in the bottom half of UFC fighters, but I reckon that will put him roughly on par with your average boxer.
Nate Diaz has excellent traditional boxing, but he's adapted it to suit his fighting style in MMA so it looks seriously unorthodox, with all his 'Stockton Slap' carry on. Watch the first Diaz fight for a demonstration of the drawbacks in Connor's style against a boxer, his open guard means he's actually pretty easy to hit if you time it properly.
Nope. Alexander Gustafsson is the best boxer in the UFC.
He has incredible punching power. The gloves don't make a huge amount of difference to the amount of force your opponent will feel on the end of a punch, they're about protecting your hands.
That video is a shambles. They've really gone too far down the circus route.
Ill watch the fights recomdned by john and waffdon
In regards to punching power. Surely floyd has faced harder punches in boxing. Corrales, mosley, canelo, maidana all punch savage.
If anything, this has just made Dana White somewhat popular for once.
Just watched the London circus. This is all awful. Its like some bad wwf
I watched the two diaz fights. Connor has a nice little style but he seems to tire at times. I imagine from the punishment they take from leg and ground work also. I can see why people feel he can win. His punch game highlights are good too
I refuse to believe that this 'fight' won't be scripted.
I've watched all the press conferences now.
I loved them all bar the one in New York which was just strange, primarily because of Conor's choice of clothing.
Eubank is having a go at least.
http://buffstream.com/watch/boxing.php
Ridiculously good stream quality
McGregor is a lad.
Sky are apparently going to charge ninety quid for the Mayweather fight on PPV. :D
A hundred and thirty if you don't have Sky Sports.
I was tempted to buy it, even though I know it's going to be an absolute farce. You couldn't justify Ł90, though.
That's ridiculous. Can't be true, surely? Hopefully I can get a good stream. :youpi: Will have probably resubscribed to Sports Mania by then.
What a disgrace. I wish people would just shun the whole event.
I was going to buy it but hahahahahahahahaha.
I've never know a PPV to cost more here than the US though so it surely can't be right.
If it is though :cab:
That's madness, there'll be plenty of streams though, there always are.
Ł90. :D Fucking hell.
No one will buy that. You'd have to be a fucking idiot. You could buy your kid 30 meals for that.
You do get the impression they may have overplayed their hand slightly at Ł90.
You fellas are being robbed apparently we are only being charged $90/Ł54. I'd happily pay that because Pubs aren't the most fun for big boxing or MMA PPV's.
Won't it be on at about 11 in the morning over there (I seem to recall the Hatton fight being on around that time)?
I can only assume the pricing on this is some sort of population control pre-screening.
Usually big fights are anywhere between 12 midday and 2pm. I like that time but hate all the amateur combat Sports bogans it brings out of the gutter. I've been to one of my inner city locals that is usually a hippy/feral lefty pub for McGregor v Diaz two and it was a backs to the wall affair.
It cant be more than the USA price. That is usually $90-$100 I think. What was the price of the mayweather vs pacman fight in the UK. It was less than Ł50?
Yeah, I think it was maybe Ł40.
What a fucking waste of money. Imagine paying double that for a fight between a bum and an old man.
Mayweather v Pacquiao was only Ł20
Streaming.
I dont understand why it would be so much, if those prices are correct. Floyd and pacman both walked away with over $100m each and given the numbers ive saw for the press conferences. This fight should blow the floyd/pacman fight out the way. It should do over 5m ppv in USA.
Those UK prices cant be correct. I dont like to count peoples money, but this is a complete money grab.
I'm shocked to hear the not-official fight between the famous semi-retired boxer and the famous MMA fighter is being described as 'a complete money grab'.
Everyone knew the fight itself was a cash grab about six months before it was even announced. He's describing Sky's supposed pricing for the PPV buy in those terms, not the fight.
Was Mayweather v Pacquiao considerably more expensive than a normal PPV? I wasn't around for it, but I've never seen a Sky PPV cost more than thirty quid, and I think only one that cost more than twenty.
Google claims it was Ł19.95 back in 2015
http://www.bbc.com/sport/boxing/32040337
How much are the usual mega mma ppv events?
No extra charge.
They're shown on BT Sport.
America gets fucked for them though, about $60 IIRC.
They are really filling dana white and conor mcgregor's pockets for this one.
Aren't WWE PPVs ludicrously expensive in the States?
Not anymore because they serve them through their subscription service. If you're the kind of numpty that just pays for Wrestlemania then yes, they destroy you.
It would be so good if the PPV absolutely bombed for this (it probably won't) - I wonder who takes the bigger hit on poor PPV - presumably it's split pretty equally between promotors, fighters and TV networks?
$10 a month for the subscription (you also get more) or around $45 for an individual event.
Tough choice.
They'll get a cut of the PPV buys too though.
The Ł130 is pub landlord prices, according to twitter.
I think the standard deal is that fighters get a cut of the American buys, with the overseas rights being sold for a single fee. The PPV doing terrible business here wouldn't affect the promoter or the fighters in any significant way, I don't think, but it would be an incantation against Sky trying to charge that sort of money for any big event in future
Will this shite actually have any reach beyond internet fanboy 'Who would win a fight between a shark and a komodo dragon?' type arguments?
At least sharks and komodo dragons are interesting.
Sorry are there about a thousand press conference around the world or something? Each day there's a different venue bit the same trash talk. People seem to love it as well. :D
They went to canada, USA and England for their press tours. There were only three but chopping and cutting each tour and posting seperate videos online will take us into next year
4.
LA, New York, Toronto and London.
The New York one was strange.
Conor came out wearing this:
https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/...39&quality=100
Claiming that it was polar bear fur.
He did claim that 50 Cent was a bitch though which was quite fun.
Can we keep this thread on topic and talk about boxing?
Bargain
Places like stubhub are a disgrace.

Ł19.95, I'll be ordering it.
Me too. I was gonna either stream it illegally or download it in the morning, but for Ł20 I may as well guarantee it's watchable and make a night of it. I've a first birthday party the day after it too; I'm gonna be a sleepy godfather that's for sure.
It makes me sad that you would pay for such a circus.
We live in a world of pure fuckris. Entertainment at its finest. It should be completely non-competitive but in order for this to sell and it will. Conor has to convince us he can win, and floyd has to convince us he could lose which both have done effectively well. You can have a fight party around this event.
It's pretty much universally accepted that Mayweather is going to walk this, isn't it?
He should although the fact he is 40 now and been away from the sport for two years is the only asterisk on this. He could blow out his knee or twist an ankle in david haye fashion.
No matter who wins there'll be somebody to lol at, which is really all that matters.
Yeah lol at the multimillionaires.
There's quite clearly a lot at stake for both of them. You don't get that rich and successful without becoming an arrogant twat that cares about pride and reputation.
I will continue aiming my lolling at anyone paying for this shitshow.
Its like some unscripted WWE event this is.
Exactly, I'll find a stream for the actual fight. If there aren't any then it's no great loss.
As if he won't be eating pork scratchings and watching Roy 'Chubby' Brown.
Saturday night is normally Jim Davidson night at chez Disco.
Vitali has retired. Fantastic but dull champion.

Don't believe what you hear in the media. Don't believe what you hear on blog sites. If it's not coming directly from me, then it's not true. I'm telling McGregor, "Let's fight in 8 oz gloves". McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I'll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I'm willing to accommodate. Let's give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see.
The athletic commission will deny the request though, Floyd knows what he's doing.
$300M for 36 minutes work.
Neymar eat your heart out.
Amir Khan's twitter seems to be suggesting AJ is now banging his ex wife.
She seems to be made out of 80% snapchat filter
https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images...6/14ifoeYn.jpg
She's hideous.
Looks like a transformer.
Lomachenko is fighting live on Boxnation tonight. That one snuck up on me.
He is giving a title shot to a guy coming off a lose and fighting in a new weight class. Its a stay-busy fight for loma
Still worth watching though. He's great fun.
Yeah he is amazing to watch. He reminds me of a young roy jones and pretty boy floyd. Althoughy i feel he has better skill moves than them both. He has other fights above and below his weight class gunning for him though in m.garcia and rigo. Those are the fights that could bring some challenge to him.
Its also been a week of retirements with wlad, juan manuel marquez and tim bradley all calling it quits.
Turns out the guy who sparred with McGregor and sounded off about it was full of shit. Video doing the rounds.
McGregor did knock him down, it wasn't a bad-tempered push.
That was clearly going to be the case.
'Paulie' is a massive dick who wants to be relevant.
Surely this is going to be the most fixed fight in history.
They may as well agree the rematch now.
He can knock down an unfit Malinaggi. It's on.
It's still kinda looks like he fell backwards. It's a knockdown, but not one to start tweeting about.
I don't know why the 'McGregor camp' chose Malinaggi tbh.
Yeah he's experienced but he's almost as immobile as me.
His Twitter is amazing, he's been on full on seethe mode for about 22 hours.
http://www.skysports.com/mayweather-...588/10991424/1
8oz gloves approved.
I saw Dana White giving it 'IT ONLY TAKES ONE PUNCH' the other day, as if people like Saul Alvarez (and for that matter the other forty-eight people who never touched him) can't punch.
Dana is always spouting shit.
You can basically take those comments as him admitting that McGregor has a puncher's chance and nothing more. He does his best to hype his man, but he started out as a boxing 'agent' and used to run a boxing gym, so he knows the game and can't honestly believe McGregor is going to box Mayweather and win. You can see in all his talk about McGregor hitting like a train and being unorthodox that he's just talking his way round admitting it.
I can't remember whether it was him or Joe Rogan (possibly both) who was spinning his lack of boxing experience and 'unorthodox' style. Why not just breakdance him to death?
Everyone is spinning that line. Dana White had a decent take on it when he said that Mayweather is so good at not getting hit partly because he just understands the rhythms of boxing so well. If they've just thrown a left jab, chances are a right cross is coming next, etc. McGregor doesn't have the same formal boxing training so he won't conform to those rhythms as closely as someone with forty pro fights would, making him a puzzle to be solved. I'd agree with that to an extent, but he's a puzzle in the same way that a jigsaw for ages 8-11 is, and Mayweather will have him sussed out in half a round.
There are so many aspects to boxing that conor probably has no ide how to combat. Correct me if im wrong but in mma, inside fighting or fighting in the pocket does not exist. All this talk about Conor being bigger and stronger, when they get close together conor is just going to over-power Floyd. That is probably not going to happen as people exspect. I would like conor when they get close to throw him to the ground, but floyd hass huge advanatage when they get close in ny opinion.
Will lighter gloves really make a difference? I thought they weren't going to be approved, Mahow?
Not really. You could do it bare knuckle, you've still got to land a punch for it to make a difference.
It does exist but not to the same extent. In MMA when two fighters get close enough to fight the way boxers do when they're almost leaning on eachother it tends to result in a clinch or one fighter trying to push the other to the fence.
I think McGregor might give up a point if necessary, try to clinch and just trip or throw Floyd early, in an effort to get in his head.
Apparently it's in the contract that if he kicks or knees in any way he forfeits his purse. I'd imagine he could get away with it if he gets badly rocked and starts fighting on instinct or something, but he isn't going to come out in round one and start throwing leg kicks. He'll throw him for two reasons, to make it clear that he's physically stronger, and so that Floyd is looking up at him as early as possible.
Pushing isnt that harsh of a foul, he could maybe just wrestle him and throw him to the ground if they get into clinching scenarios.
I don't think it'll be a push, as such. I think he'll go as close as he can to a judo toss to really make it clear that he's the stronger man.
Yeah, thats the word im looking for. Judo toss.
I dont feel the strength advantage is all that great though. Its not going to be as one-sided as most people feel it will be.
I'm expecting a full-distance boreathon with an inevitable may weather decision after he frustrates mcgregor for the entire fight. I really hope I'm wrong though.
It's a shame the entourage would all pile in if he really went to town on him.
You can get that at 3/1.
I don't know much, if anything, about boxing, but the odds on McGregor winning and the odds above for it going the distance strike me as absolutely rubbish. Shouldn't Mayweather be about 1/100? What gives?
It's odds, not the actual chance of it happening. Or to put it another way, loads of twats are betting on McGregor.
You can get McGregor at 100/1 as a special price on Betvictor, Ł1 max for new customers only though.
Surely the outcome is predetermined anyway (i.e. McGregor will do a lot better than expected).
He will do a lot better, given he is an active fighter and floyd is on a two year lay-off and is damm near 40.
Is a 2 year lay off that big a deal considering he only boxed once every 18 months or so anyway? It's not as if he's let himself go.
He hasn't fought once every 18 months since 2010/2012. Since the end of 2012, he fought every 6 months up until 2015. It will affect him. People giving floyd too much credit like time off and age will not affect him.
There's that.
But there is also the fact that HE'S [McGregor's] NOT A FUCKING BOXER.
That's being released as a charity single and McGregor is flying the lad out to Vegas for the fight, so he's done well out of it.
Love it.
It really bugs me how the stars always seem to align for floyd. Here we have the most popular person from another sport, around the same weight class so they can make the fight
Floyd is good at stealing and capitalising on other fighters sucsesss. When there is light shining on you, here comes floyd offering to fight. You can go back 10 floyd opponents and they all come off arguably the best victories of their career up to that point.
Surely defeating somebody isn't stealing their success?
Yes it is. He always seems to strike when your hot. When its all eyes on you, he pops up and offers a fight. Its actually a really good statergy he has developed.
Yeah it's a strange stick to beat him with. If anything, Mayweather chose not to fight someone like Pacquiao unti he was sure he wouldn't lose. Mayweather wants to maximise the money he makes, McGregor is the same.
No one really wants to be hit in the head longer than they need to.
What im saying is, even conor being from a different sport is around the same weight class as him. Everything just lines up perfect for him, all the time.
In boxing, i think mayweather figured out that when a boxer looks the best he has in years, is the perfect time to fight them.
I know lines changed but i wasnt expecting the conor odds to be that bad. Currently @3.5. Thats madness.
Where's the value for Mayweather then? I'm not about to stick Ł200 on 1.25 odds.
Floyd and the decesion. Dont beleive the hype. No one getting stopped.
3.75 is actually pretty good. Definitely worth twenty quid.
Im happy this is now the final week. Im tired of people telling me "if this was a street fight or in a cage" it wouldnt last 20 seconds. Yes we know this, the reason its not in the octogan is because its not competitive and there would be less interest and money for everyone involved. It would be extremely difficulty to convince people floyd has a chance in the cage.
Boxing can send big bad Tyson to fight whoever the cage folk want in one of their octagons. Good luck to them.
Tony Bellew supposedly wants to fight Michael Bisping in the cage, which would be fun.
If McGregor wins this it'll mean a huge, huge boost in revenue for the UFC, and I could see them trying to lure a few boxers in with big paydays. Andre Ward was a wrestling champion in his youth and Lomachenko used to win judo tournaments, so presumably those two would be high on the list.
I can see boxers being lured to the UFC but as you mentioned, the contracts would need to be very lucrative. High level Boxers already earn more than the high lebel ufc guys, but conor winning this may change things.
Boxing is where they will always cut the biggest cheques. There would need to be a power shift for that to change.
He's not going to win, unless something MEGA happens.
Surely smaller 8 ounce gloves is going to give Connor a massive advantage?
Floyd has 40+ fights in 8 oz gloves. Difference between 8 oz and 10 oz is minor. It will make little difference.
That assumes he's able to land a few punches, which he almost certainly won't given Mayweather's defensive capability.
His inability to box at the level of a professional boxer may count against him.
Im not doubting Mayweather at all. I just mean now with smaller gloves that one that will land is far more likely to hurt him.
Anthony Joshua v Stone cold Steve Austin.
Butterbean already sorted out the boxing vs. pro wrestling thing when he smashed Bart Gunn's face in.
Its like freddy vs jason.
All bar 3 of his fights were in 8oz gloves apparently.
For Conor he enjoys the potential extra power he will get, for Floyd it's the boosted hand speed in wearing slightly lighter gloves.
If it was 6 or even 4 then it would favour McGregor a lot more.
Or if he had pistols.
Come on now, Mcagregor has absolutely no chance of winning. You can even bet on him failing to land a single head shot on Mayweather. :D
However, the majority will be rooting for McGregor (myself included) and it would be amazing if he somehow managed it, especially with a KO. Although he's promised to knock him out in the first, second and fourth rounds, and that's just in the interviews I've seen.
I heard the other day that Charles Bronson once fought - and beat - a Pitbull in 'bear knuckles boxing' and it reminded me quite strongly of this. Of course, had the dog been allowed 2oz gloves it would have had a chance.
Ive looked for the best betting options for myself
@3.75 - mayweather to win a decision
@51 - Either Fighter to be Examined by the Doctor (Paddypower) I think this is now mandatory in title fights in boxing, but not in non-title fights. Good value here
Other options that are interesting
@7 Conor to lose and retire after the fight (Ladbrokes)
@8 Conor to fight paulie malignaggi next (Ladbrokes)
@49 Conor to win (Betsafe new customer offer Ł1 max bet)
Weigh in
153 - Conor
149 - Floyd

McGregor is life
Martyn Waugh: I can see McGregor outboxing Mayweather. Mayweather isn't nearly as skilled as McGregor when it comes to pure boxing. I think McGregor will pick him apart with his famous jab and win on the scorecards unanimously.
lol.
They actually edited it too as he said McGregor would make British boxing proud.
I've no exact idea what's going on with this whole shit show, presumably it's like some WWE crap to sell tickets, but it's nice that the roads will be quiet on Sunday morning after all the mongs stay up past their bedtime, and hopefully McGregor has his face caved in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i2k5d2coiU
Look at him loving it. He looks like the school pleb during that week the 'popular' wankers patronise and subtly bully him.
What time is it supposed to start?
My sleeping schedule is 10pm-6am at the moment so I might just go to bed early and see if I fancy it when the alarm goes off at 4am.
11am for me, on normal TV. Perfect timing to enjoy a full English and watch this circus.
What are the options if one wanted to see it without contributing to the circus?
As with most of these things, they'll be lots of streams available. Check Reddit and Twitter prior to the fight.
I'll be streaming it if I manage to get up,
Getting up for this seems self defeating. Someone post the link to the highlights in here tomorrow.
Canelo - GGG is the big fight soon.
I would have thought the 50-0 agenda would have been pushed way more than it is.
I don't get how McGregor can gain over a stone of weight inside a day. Or how being so dehydrated close to the fight won't hurt his performance.
I think I might try to wake up for it.
Is this actual boxing or some weird hybrid thing?
Hybrid. They'll be wearing gloves on their feet, too.
Alarm set for 4. See you in a few hours boys.
If anyone gets a viable link, could they possibly fire it over by PM?
Lol at GS feigning interest in 'the circus' but staying up until 4am and feverishly scavenging around for links.
I don't want to pay for it, but I'm now sufficiently interested in the spectacle to be prepared to turn the laptop on for half an hour.
Part of this is that if the IMPOSSIBLE happens you'd be seething not to see it. Inevitably, it'll be drab as fuck for twelve rounds and Mayweather will win by eleven rounds to one.
I'd probably stream it too but not at that time. Fuck that.
It's a bit annoying, but I'll just go to sleep again afterwards.
https://www.reddit.com/r/BoxingStrea...r_vs_mcgregor/
Should be something there closer to the time.
Tried to sleep but I have sunburn itch which is preventing me.
I have the following on:
Ł10 on Mayweather to win on points @ 4.33
Ł10 on McGregor to win @ 5.5
Ł10 on McGregor to win by KO @ 9
Ł10 on McGregor to win any round on 2 scorecards @ 1.8
Ł5 on McGregor to win in round 2 @ 23.

I would like to see conor be a nasty somewhat dirty cunt who tries to un rattle floyd. Faint fake kicks and all, yelling at at him, Beating his chest. Doing all kinds of wild unothardox moves. Show patience and not rush his work. Once he gets an opening, take it.
What i think will happen is going ro come out like a raging bull for the firdt round and floyd will punch and move and block punches across 12 rounds. He isnt standing toe to toe with conor. I feel he will become fustrated by not being able to land as often as he would like.
Cleverly is awful.
Gervonta Davis should be docked about 10 points and half his purse for those shorts.
The couple of streams I've tried have been choppy. I can't find one that stays stable for too long.
Floyd to win first round. Punches to the body.
I bought a stream (from Box Office) and using a VPN to access it.
Streams will be attacked when it starts.
Gervonta Davis is such a dick, he's fucking constantly showboating in this round.
Is this Mauro on commentary?
It is on the USA broadcast. Yeah.
Given I'm now awake, and will end up staying awake, I caved and paid the Ł19.95 to Sky Box Office.
At least the stream isn't going to cave in and I can watch it properly, but by fuck am I going to SEETHE if it's over in two rounds. I've also contributed to the circus, so more fool me.
What a massive cunt.
Alright, what is actually happening? I'm awake for this and it's not even on yet. Have they completely wanked this?
EDIT: They're holding this up to chase some buy record? You fucking carnies.
It's still the undercard.
This guy being interviewed is thick as shit.
He sounds punch drunk.
And they might not make enough ticket sales to guarantee the payout to McGregor and Mayweather. Excellent. This match will kill this sport.
It's annoying they can't show any video clips of McGregor fighting cos they don't have the rights.
EDIT: presume they somehow paid for the Aldo clip considering that's all they show.
McGregor looks weird in boxing gloves.
Link.............?
Dan Hardy looks like the odd man out there.
He's not talking and no one there is even acknowledging him :D
Demi Lovato is fucking stringing this out.
The butchering of national anthems has become an almost expected prelude to sporting events now. They can't just fucking sing them.
I wonder whether Mayweather paid the announcer to butcher his McGregor pronunciation.
Connor McGreeegor.
I love his McMahon-lite strut.
Floyd knocked off a bank and forgot to take all his gear off?
Is there a reason the ref just starred completely at McGregor when giving the instructions?
McGregor looks so amateur in his stance. Fair play with that uppercut though.
Conor has looked good but might be a touch tired.
McGregor starting to look tired. Mayweayher to finish him shortly....
Mayweather kicked it up a gear.
Yeah, McGregor punches seem very light now. Surprised to see that he is so tired already.
Not looking good.
Balls.
Clinches got a touch dirtier in that round too.
Mayweather looks like he'd love to get a KO, he fired in some big punches which hasn't been his style in the last few years of his career.
This is starting to get a bit bum fighter territory.
Mayweayher is turning the screw, though.
Can't see Conor holding on :(
Fair play to Mayweather, really didn't see him stopping Conor.
:(
Gave it a go. Back to UFC to win another belt, or have another boxing match get his arse shown by Paulie? :dirk:
Yeah, McGregor did better than I expected. Mayweather wasn't particularly brilliant - but was good enough to basically control the fight. Can we move on now?
I know this was his first fight at this distance - but I was still surprised by Mcgregor (lack of) conditioning. The Diaz fight, and this one - he was shot by round 4.
Ludicrously one-sided after the early couple of rounds. Then again, it's the best of his generation against a novice so entirely expected.
Some moron's on Twitter claiming that McGregor "almost won" in the first few rounds :D Mayweather was just measuring him up - one uppercut aside, he was in complete control.
McGregor won the early rounds, but you'd say that was based on activity. Mayweather knew what he was doing.
Exactly. Mayweather didn't want, or need to, win the first few rounds.
Meanwhile, Matthew Macklin's suit is nice.
Yeah, Mayweather wanted Conor to punch himself out a bit in those first few. Plus he wanted to get a full view of what Conor had, within the rules, and without so much pressure.
There was definitely an element of seeing exactly what McGregor would do, given he couldn't study any footage etc.
He was in complete control the whole fight.
Get in the Octagon, Floyd, Son
Coming up next month....
Frank Bruno v Chris Boardman in a horse race around Silverstone
Frankie Dettori on Big Frank?
Sounds like this was a classic. Glad I chose sleep.
Aye, I went to bed at 8:30 because I was tired. I woke up naturally at 4 but couldn't be bothered. Given what I've heard I probably won't even watch a replay.
Baby had me up at 5:30 so I caught the arse end of it. As expected by the look of it. Mayweather let him knacker himself out then picked him off.
Somebody on Facebook has said McGreggor "shocked the boxing world" in the first few rounds.
Love how everyone says 'remember he lasted 10 rounds Mayweather wouldn't last 5 minutes in the octagon!'.
He never claimed he would, so utterly irrelevant. He got his arrogant arse handed to him but it's fine because money.
I was wrong.
I didnt think floyd had the balls to walk conor down and try and finish him. I thought he would have stayed away and out-boxed him, Conor's power didnt real work at all. Also, his energy fell off real quick. Considering he is 29 and in physical prime condition, is a real concern. Its like when your on fight night and you have no energy left and your in drunk mode. Conor didnt really have an answer once floyd put on his headphones and just put his head inside conor's chest .That was a surprise also. It was interesting though. Conor had his moments, landed a nice uppercut early on but after that, his punches were of no concern to floyd. I would have thought in the clinch, conor would have been much stronger and would have had a massive advantage, but he didnt. Maybe could have had a point deducted for the constant rabbit punches, but floyd style gives up his back often so that was always going to happen
Floyd didnt respect his fighting ability after that. He just walked him down and took control after round 3. Disappointed didnt really plant his feet and move forward more often and put it on floyd. His slaps in his punching technique similar on how calzache did.
In regards to the stoppage, you have to throw punches back. If you don't, you are asking to get stopped. You cant be drunk bouncing around and not expected the referee to stop the fight.
From the little MMA ive saw. Its different. You can be drunk and not thrown punches back, and the take way more punishment before fights are stopped. Then it all changed and was downhill from there. It was his energy that was his downfall. Referee had to save him again.
It was a good though. I dont feel as if it was a waste of time. It was decent entertainment.
Not so much these days. It used to be that you'd have to pound a non-responsive face several times before the ref would step in but it's a lot more like boxing now. If they land a flurry or punches with no guard / response the ref ends it.
It was an experiment that lasted as long as Mayweather wanted it to. It won't open the floodgates to more crossovers.
Yeah but Messi wouldn't last five minutes on a rugby field!
Yeah but Dame Judi Dench wouldn't last five minutes at the Battle of Ypres!
The whole MMA thing is a non-starter.
It peaked with Don Frye.
The best analogy i heard was jessica ennis who does the heptalthon going up against the best person ever in long jump.
"Yeah, I'd like to see Surtees try that on 4 wheels!"
Oh wait...
It more or less went exactly the way everyone expected it to.
Fair play to McGregor for making it happen though. Dragging one of the all time greats out of retirement and into the ring, through the sheer force of being a loud, proud, mental Irish wide boy. Legend.
Gs paying for this shit. :harold:
If they flipped roles (Mayweather MMA debut), they couldn't pull this type of money in.
Which is pretty much true:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QIYYd-v8jI
Money fight from start to finish and now the pikey can go off shouting absolute bollocks at the next cunt.
Nah, I'm talking about the literal payout potential. Even with a big build, an MMA fight won't fill seats or get the buys a big money fight in boxing can grant you. Boxing has prestige. MMA is still a scrappy underdog.
You need the characters and the freedom to do the hyper fights. Given how conor has made his payday, im sure when he goes back to mma. They will have to change things up for him and all other ufc fighters.
Hundreds? More like thousands of empty seats.
What?
In terms of PPV buys McGregor isn't as far off the big boxing numbers as you'd think for a UFC event. The Mayweather v Pacquiao fight did about three and a half million, which will remain the record until official numbers come out for last night. McGregor's biggest buy rate is about one and three quarter million. Without checking it that feels like it'd be in the top ten for combat sports PPV buys, and his numbers are only going to rocket after that spectacle last night.
As a couple of people have said, I was surprised by how quickly McGregor got tired. It's a different sport, but he is still meant to be supremely fit by almost any standard. Mayweather probably didn't even get showered after it.
He went after about 25 minutes, which, unsurprisingly, is around the time he's conditioned for in MMA. There's a reason boxers start off doing 6 or 8 round fights.
He looked shattered from about halfway through round four on. Whatever he did in his weight cut to carry some size into fight night fucked his stamina in a big way. He's never had great endurance, but his tank seemed to run dry last night much more quickly than it usually does.
His tank ran out after four, but he started looking a bit lethargic in the second round. That's abysmal.
His ppv average is great. It may be better than floyds and pacmans. The shelf life of the ufc guys does not seem to be that long compared to boxers. The reign at the top appears to be much shorter. All the fighters i can name from the ufc have either stopped fighting or gone shit. I guess thats because they use so many weapons in mma. Can he fight anyone and do 1 million ppv buys?
A few UFC guys have had the sort of lengthy reigns that top level boxers tend to have, but they're pretty scarce. Anderson Silva is the first name that comes to mind as a UFC guy who had a proper reign as champion. Look up his highlights, his fights against Chris Leben, James Irvine, Forrest Griffin, and Vitor Belfort in particular, to see what real high level MMA looks like.
Reigns are rare because there are so many ways to win a fight that you can't be fully prepared to defend all of them. It's the same reason a loss isn't the same disaster for an ascendant fighter that it is in boxing.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.b...w-fighter-ever
Yeah, 1m is nothing.
It was only twenty quid, which wasn't extortionate. I don't feel particularly mugged off either - it was interesting to see, even if it went as you'd expect.
As in people offering, in mitigation for McGregor losing, the view that Mayweather wouldn't last twenty seconds with McGregor under MMA rules. Obviously he wouldn't, but it's not an argument worth having.
It was pretty poor. By any objective standard, McGregor should be 'ultra-fit' and he was struggling after about 12 or 15 minutes of effort. I don't know enough about it to know whether that's down to crap conditioning, crap training, or whatever. Either way, he should have went hell for leather in the first two or three rounds and just conceded the point after it. Very easy to say with hindsight, I suppose.
It's two different kinds of fitness, really. Boxing's always struck me as an act of endurance. Not only that but the hits come harder and more frequently aimed at the head. That takes years to build. Granted, McGregor had a taste of it in his youth but it can't compare.
You'd have thought the least he could do, seeing as becoming a world class boxer in three months was entirely out the question, would have been to get fit as a fiddle so he could at least last the duration should he need to.
Or, you know, parade around in fancy clothes and run his mouth to garner interest. Tough one, really.
Mayweather being out the saddle a little would've helped prolong it. It was a good test of the unknown.
It was a worthwhile exercise, all things considered.
I don't think it's a case of being unfit. McGregor isn't a boxer so he had no idea on how to pace himself or be boxing fit. He's an amateur boxer ffs, he's never going to do better than that. Look at the first fights off most boxers to them now and it'll be incomparable.
He could have paid somebody to help him pace himself. The people helping him learn to punch better might have known somebody.
The guy is a shit amateur boxer. What are you expecting?
I think he boxed better than most people would have expected, and used his size advantage reasonably effectively, so it's not as though his tactics - and therefore his pacing, until he got knackered - were completely useless. He just wasn't fit (or maybe healthy if his cutting was to blame) enough to keep it up for more than ten minutes, which, to say he was meant to be depending on 'one shot', stupidly limits his window for doing that to four rounds.
Watching the replay now and with the knowledge of how fucked he was going to be at the end of the fourth, the way he comes out at the start of that round seems like McGregor realising he had a few full power swings left before he was too tired to land the knockout. He charges out like it was the final round and he was down on the cards.
Has Mayweather said anything about that daft balaclava? He looked ridiculous.
Yeah. If he was going to catch him with a knockout shot then it was only going to come later on once Mayweather had opened up and started attacking himself. You're not going to wade through anyone like George Foreman early on, let alone somebody miles better than you, and I think his early rounds actually reflected that. He just wasn't in good enough shape, which is just shit.
Its unacceptable
Regardless of how shit you are in skill. Conor should have been better prepared physically. His energy shouldnt have disappeaered as quick as it did, its not like the fight was at a super pace. With all the money and resources he had available to him and given he has a fighting background, he should have done better. Im pretty sure you ufc guys can probably name a few fighters who wouldnt have gone the 12 no problem.
Generally speaking high level MMA guys are fitter than high level boxers. McGregor just doesn't prepare himself for the long haul. He's all about exploding early, and as I said earlier if he doesn't finish the fight during that early barrage he fades badly and he can become pretty turgid.
Going ten rounds with Mayweather isn't "shit" or "unacceptable". He wasn't expected to win and he did fall short, but he wasn't exactly embarrassed either. He did as well as any mid-level professional fighter would have hoped.
The idea that he could have just trained harder is stupid. People have limits and these may be his.
Three months is also nothing for the kind of conditioning required.
He went ten rounds with Mayweather because Mayweather allowed it to last ten rounds.
Anyway, some proper boxing coming up - including this maybe https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2017/8/2...pn-boxing-news
Kiko is correct. Mayweather took the path of least risk. He knew McGregor would be knackered and wouldn't have the skill or experience to defend himself. He just waited until the optimum moment to finish it.
If he'd wanted to finish it earlier, he could have. McGregor did well enough in the context of what he is, and I maintain it was a worthwhile exercise even if the hype was a bit excessive, but there's no getting away from it that it was a mismatch. McGregor didn't help himself by poor conditioning, whatever his boxing skills may be.
His conditioning should be up to a standard. He shouldn't fall off that bad at round 5. He has been fighting his whole life. I wouldn't expect if amir khan had to go into round 13, his energy would just fall of a cliff like conor's did.
Seems to me that mcgregor did exactly what he was most capable of - come out quick and hard and try to get a knockout.
His problem wasn't a lack of conditioning, it's tough for anyone to keep up that pace.
His problem was his inability to land any kind of telling blow on Mayweather, who just used his fantastic defensive skills to weather the storm and then start taking mcgregor apart once he was tiring, which is what most boxing pundits predicted.
I thought mcgregor did better than I had expected
6.5 million buys apparently. Lord Conor McGregor.
$80m generated at the gate. $8m more than the previous record.
The whole sport is down the shitter when this is the prism everything is assessed through.
Joshua v Klitschko was an infinitely superior fight on every conceivable level. How many 'buys' did it get?
It's Conor McGregor. What were you expecting?

:D
Quote:
"My son's been taught when a stranger puts their hands on them (to) punch and run away (in) self defence."
Why the kick, though? Snide little shit.
It would have been among the funniest things that have ever happened if he'd just knocked the little twat flat on his arse.
It speaks volumes that his scummy dad did nothing about it. The little shit will be stealing cars in no time.
Its canelo vs ggg this weekend.
They also announced loma vs rigo for december
Canelo by decision. Its about to start a little early. Canelo to do ggg like mayweather did canelo.
What rounds have you got so far @SincereTheRebel?
Im not scoring it round for round but at the end of 9, ggg is winining. He has the moumentum for sure. From a corrupt boxing judge standpoint, its competitive enough to give it canelo though
That was such a good fight.
Ggg won the fight for me. Fairly clearly.
Some bullshit. That wasnt a draw. GGG won. The rematch was talked about before the fight and there you have it
10-2 to canelo by that female judge is pure fuckris
Im just happy i get to see that again
I only saw from the fourth round on, but the fight I watched wasn't a draw. GGG won that comfortably.
I would like see a pacman vs marquez type of rivialry from this. I dont want to see an immediate rematch. I would like to see them go away and get wins. That means we have to wait to another year at least.
Both Guardian writers had it for GGG, too.
Just finished watching it. That 118-110 :face:
Great fight, decision was off but some great counters from Canelo. The way GGG stalks is terrifying, on him from round 3/4.
That's a shambles and also ruins GGG's record.
GCCGGGGGGGCC
118-110 fucking madness
i could see giving C the 1st and the 10th MAYBE.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/...-boxer-age-38/
Rio Ferdinand is going to become a professional boxer. The sport has gone to shit. :harold:
"This helped me get over my wife's death."
Nah, you're still in it.
At least he doesn't have to worry about brain damage.
I know nothing about boxing, but isn't being a good boxer at 38 highly unlikely?
I look forward to Tom Daley's first fight. Conor McGregor has a lot to answer for.
Andre ward has announced his retirement.
http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/i...leaving-boxing
Add him to Timothy Bradley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Wladimir Klitschko and Floyd Mayweather all retired in the same year. Thats some hall of fame induction 20 years from now.
Mayweather retired years ago.
Clearly shit scared of an angry Kovalev.
Yeah. He never fought him twice already.
He was losing the second fight handily until he started clubbing Kovalev's balls.
He fought kov the 1st time and lost in my opinion. The 2nd time he attacked the russians groin unfairly and won. He stole two victories against kovalev but he still fought him twice without any hesitation.
He did take the easy option though. Given how athletes/boxers compete at a high level for much longer these days, being 33 is still young.
Pacman and wlad and the rest of them are 40 are still competed competitively.
idk about all that ... Kovalev was getting worn out around 4th/5th from all of the clinching lol. Starting throwing rabbit punches and what have you. Ward wobbled Kov with a headshot in that 8th round before he went to the body as well.
Now I don't disagree that some of those were low but it's not like Kovalev was pounding on Ward and Ward desperately went for the nuts. Fight was pretty even at that point IIRC.
Ward's never struck me as someone who particularly liked boxing, so it makes sense to get out whilst he still has his health, and his millions of dollars.
Anyone see this Fury fight?
Sounds like another piece of classic judging. Is Parker a bit of a bum?
Parker is the worst of the current heavy champions. He hasnt fought anyone worth talking about. He is seen as easy food. Nothing special. It was a competative fight. Could have gone either way.
I caught the highlights of Eubank Jr's last fight and fair dink'um that bloke looks like he has been chiseled from granite.
Eric Israel seems legit.
Alright, Fury's making plans. Good lad.
The Joshua v Pulev fight is off. Pulev pulled out through injury.
Takam has taken his place so there will still be a fight.
Is he even more of a bum?
He's a big lad but the only fighters worth a shit he's fought, Povetkin and Parker, have beaten him handily.
Hoping Ryan “Rarrn” Burnett gets knocked the heck out later. :eyemouth:
Will Warrington get his weak little ass handed to him tonight?
Just watched AJ. WHAT THE FUCK??
Bullshit stoppage.
Isn't he just a fat cokehead these days?
Yeah, and Tyson Fury will knock him out.
So, the Haye and Bellew fight is off because Haye, as far as I can tell, slipped and fell while running up and down a flight of stairs during training.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/42056678
:harold: /
It's probably because he didn't want to get a knockout in the 3rd round.
Haye is made of glass. He is always pulling out of fights because he injures himself.
You would think if you were in charge of Hayes training camp, glass figurine that he is, then common sense would prevail and you would find some sort of alternative conditioning workout that didn't involve him running up and down a fucking flight of stairs.
Vasyl Lomachenko vs Guillermo Rigondeaux this weekend. Rigo has a big task ahead of him. I dont think he will win. Jumping up two weight classes to 130 in order to challenge Loma. Four gold medals between these two guys. I dont think we have seen a fight like this before or ever again. Usually Rigondeaux uses his smaller size advantage over his opponnets but i dont think it will happen here. Lomachenko is a special talent. Chess match at its finest.
Haven't followed boxing in a while but this one actually sounds interesting. Might have to tune in.
What time is it on? 3-4am?
I’m backing Rigondeaux to do the business.
He did manage to strip donaire of all his powers. But loma is a different fighter all together though. Given how they both dont have 20 fights between them, ill watch their whole catalogue between today and fight start.
http://www.skysports.com/boxing/news...er-april-fight
McGregor wants to fight Pacquiao in April.
:face:
The UFC should just take his title off him and cancel his contract. He obviously has no intention of defending so make it official and let the division move on.
DeGale is about to start on BT Sport 1.
DeGale fucking up a bit in the fifth.
Could see him going to sleep.
Richie Woodhall has been drinking tonight. No idea how he has DeGale winning on his scorecard.
If the judges don't give it to Traux he's been fucked over.
Edit: They actually called it right.
Daniel Dubois continues to look like he's going to be a mega star.
http://i65.tinypic.com/14e9uvc.jpg
Such an odd fight. Two guys who remained amateur for far too long and were immediately amongst the best in the world when they turned pro. Has anything like that happened before?
No idea about Lomachenko/Ukrainians but Cubans always go a bit further into their amateur careers. Three people have won 3 Olympic golds and two of them are Cubans and there are plenty who did two games.
Can't think of anyone who was as good as Lomachenko and Rigondeaux as pros though.
Lomachenko is bonkers quick. Rigondeaux has looked the faster fighter every time I've watched him but he looks slow by comparison here.
Rigondeaux is doing his best to play spoiler here, but Lomachenko is still shining. Hopefully that bit of aggro sparks it into real life.
EDIT - Fuck RIGHT off. Shitebag.
It was always in his favour, but that was superb from loma. Rigo claiming his hand was injured is sad. We have all seeen fighters continue with injured hands before. Excuses if you ask me. He was fettingn beat clearly. Dominate from loma. Loma isnt going to get more respect until he starts movig through weight classes.
Lomachenko is different class and he looked like he could have done that for another fifty rounds, but that's deeply pathetic from Rigo.
Rigo just fought for a cheque man. That hurt my heart from rigo.
He's always been a conservative, defensive fighter, but that bordered on timidity at times.
I don't think any realistic opponent would make him prove it, but I reckon Lomachenko has the best head movement this side of Mayweather.
He does not really let his hands go. It was always an uphill task for him, but still. Injured hand cost him the fight is corny.
Glad it happened though. There isnt thst many elite level fights left in boxing anymore after this one.
It's probably the best fight in boxing in terms of pure ability.
GGG v Canelo aside, how many other fights can realistically be made between two legitimately world class talents?
I would say wilder vs joshua and crawford vs spence/thurman/pacman. Thats about it. All the elite fights have happened over the past few years. Loma test comes from mikey garcia.
Big Bad Tyson is on the comeback trail although who knows when this ban is being backdated to, if it's the original charge then wouldn't he be banned until June 2018?
Backdated to 13th of December apparently:
He's never going to get back to his best. The guys been smashing gear and booze for the last few years, he's fucked.
Groves v Eubank Jr tonight. ITV have done a seriously bad job promoting it.
Are they even showing it?
My point.
It's on their box office channel, which is a double pain in the arse because you can't order through the remote.
Eubank 5th round plz
That fight on the undercard just now was terrific.
Naseem Hamed seems to grow rounder every month.
I've got money on Eubank in 7-9.
I love that Hamed is now just a roly poly fat bastard, zero fucks given.
https://s14.postimg.org/mxjv7nqs1/nas.png
Looks like me.
Is he still a Prince or do you surrender the title if you go over 125kg?
It always amuses me when the commentary team apologises for language from the corners, or they use radio edits of intro music, as though people paying to watch two blokes punch eachother witless will be outraged by a bit of swearing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pevFEnzMshU
Super Series have the fight on their Youtube page.
Need a VPN to make your location US though.
This is shit so far.
Edit: A decent round finally.
Eubank is a decent athlete but he can't box for shit at this level. Ragged as fuck.
There's absolutely no technique. He's just swinging in hope.
Groves nearly fucked it by dropping his hands in that round. That cocky celebration from Eubank
Eubank senior is dressed like the ref.
What was that announcers hair?
Eubank boxed like I do on video games. Fun at the end at least.
Naseem is savaging him here.
He might be my favourite pundit ever based on this one performance. Laying into Groves and shouting over the other two now :D
He keeps telling Eubank he's shit and needs to retire :D
Eubank looked outmatched from the opening bell. Nowhere near good enough to get where he keeps saying he wants to be, so Naseem is probably right and he should pack it in.
:D
Naseem to unretire and batter him.
'You're either good at boxing or you're not.'
Great fight (watched it from the 6th after watching the shape of water - seriously what the fuck is that?) Groves defence was brilliant and considering his shoulder popped he did well to survive.
Callum Smith to win the lot then?
The Wilder fight was pretty, well, wild. Ortiz had to get him out when he had the chance. Strangely reminiscent of the Joshua Klitschko fight in the end. Wilder is definitely beatable, shame Ortiz and his eager little Cuban face couldn't last the pace.
Kell Brook's fight, on the other hand, was a bit procedural, but I suppose that is necessary.
That was some finish.
Looks like the Canelo v GGG rematch could be off. Canelo failed a drug test and while he's claiming tainted meat, which he's claimed and got away with loads of times before, they've suspended him while they investigate this time.
Aye, but who the hell has Browne been fighting his whole career to be unbeaten and such a bum?
He'd have made Valuev look fleet of foot.
Went down hard. Always a bit disappointing when they shelve all replays for fear he wakes up dead in the morning. Impressive from Whyte. I've always quite liked him as a fighter and it'd be interesting seeing him get a go at Wilder.
Wilder will win, just off endurance alone. It should be the winner of AJ vs Parker next for Wilder.
Wilder isn't actually a great boxer, he just has bags of power and those freakishly long arms that mean he can take one step out of the centre of the ring and hit you on the ropes.
He is extremely effective. He losses rounds, but he always ends up with his hand raised at the end of the fight. Extremely dangerous. I favour his wild style of joshua.
Anybody fancy Parker to actually outlast Joshua and finish him off late?
Big Tyson's your man for the job.
Is he due back in the ring soon? I've missed the guy.
He's signed up with Warren recently so it'll happen.
Shame that canelo is a big drug cheat.
AJ doing too much complaining for me. Needs to keep focused. Some fighters will try and rough you up on the inside and use their head as ram.
Joshua is trying to line up that head control into a uppercut. Same way he did wlad
Good fight. AJ was heated during the in ring interviews. Its good to see. Call out wilder and fury, but fuck fury right now. That wilder fight will be real life wakanda mode
That was crap. Parker spent most of the fight on the back foot but it was clearly a game plan and as far as I could see he was the more aggressive and successful fighter in most rounds.
That referee is boxing's Steve Mazzagatti, get involved when he shouldn't and stand elsewhere when he should get involved. Hopefully I never see him again.
Is Joshua really that good?
He is good. Definitely the best in the world right now at heavyweight. Its him and wilder as number 2. I think it was froch who made a great point. Wilder has nothing to worry about based on that performance from AJ. He has his flaws.
He's not, and you'll find me saying as much earlier in the thread. The hype says he's Lennox Lewis with a more marketable face, but he got to the game too late to be truly world class.
Have that same fight in Australia tonight and Parker wins by the same margin.
I always get caught by the hype and watch the match, but I'm yet to see an exciting boxing match.
That one was probably the boring-est yet.
I admit I had to check, but no, it doesn't seem like it.

Jeff Horn got his name in New Zealand.
He is will be knocked out in his next fight though.
Yeah, crawford is special and I suspect its not going to end well for horn.
From your other post where you said he was more aggressive and successful in most rounds.
The scores looked a little too wide but I think Joshua was edging most rounds and dictating the fight. The widest score was from the NZ judge and Parker admitted himself he lost.
It was almost a Klitschko style performance from AJ. The size difference was a bit much, it'll be interesting to see how he deals with Fury or Wilder.
Apparently Canelo v GGG 2 is off. So sayeth a man on Twitter.
And the Mirror. The drugs don't work.
Anyone watching Haye Bellew? They’re ringing walking now.
I’m excited to hear Haye’s excuse this time out.
Hoping Haye goes wobbly again.
Why is Haye wearing comically large shorts?
I was not disappointed :D
“I’m broke laaa” couldn’t be more scouse :cool2:
Glad he won, can’t be doing with Haye.
He should've packed it in after Klitschko. Nowt worse than a boxer hanging around like that.
What a shambles David Haye is.
I reckon he was injures before the first bell. He just didnt look right at all.
"I couldn't push off during the fight. All of my stopping power is in the little toe on my weaker foot."
He's chronically injured. Shame as he was a good boxer.
If you are always injured, then you really need to hang it up. At this point, haye is like butterbean. Four round fighter then his body just fails. Pretty embarassing if you ask me.
Eurovision:
Cyprus @ 10.0
Czech Republic @ 16.5
Sweden @ 30.0
Top Balkan:
Croatia @ 20.0 (12.0+ fine)
Semi Final 1:
Azerbaijan to qualify at 2.3
Semi Final 2:
Russia to not qualify at 2.0
The Russia one is risky just because they'll probably buy their way through, but it's one of the worst entries ever so it seems a steal.
Cyprus actually has a chance?
I might have entered the wrong thread here.
And yes, there is plenty to  over.

I reckon she could knockout a Russian.
Barely anything to do with boxing but it's a fucking great read:

So I was right then.
Lamachenko vs Linares is on Box Nation for anyone who is up (free to all those with BT Sport subscriptions).
3 weight world champ now. Loma is a special talent. He carries on like this, we will sitting at the table with the rest of the boxing gods.
I caught Horn spawing with a local champ at me Greek box fit/ serious boxing club.
Not in anyway qualified to judge him because Im beer fit.
Crawford will take his title soon.
Stevenson vs Jack this weekend. Should be a good one. Stevenson has been a champ for a long time now. The kovalev fight didnt happen and ward took his soul. Im going with Jack as he has looked good the past few fights.
Selby is fighting as well.
Welsh Mayweather
Yeah can't see past Selby.
Clashing trunks ffs lads.
Great opening two rounds.
Warrington is fucking going for it.
Jesus Christ. Did not expect that.
