Sid Lowe is alright on podcasts, but his writing is really poor I think. His articles read as if he’s trying to build suspense in a novel.

There is so much shite sportswriting out there nowadays, especially in football. You couldn't pay me to read another Jonathan Wilson article ever again.
To be fair to Wilson, he fully cops to it and says it's just a way to pay the bills inbetween books which he prefers doing.
And he does run The Blizzard which is a hive of fantastic writing on niche subjects.
Ken's rant today was worth the months subscription alone. He should give up the fags every week
I gave it a shot, and have found it to be perfect falling asleep material. I enjoy it while conscious as well though.
Only Balls & Horses is a favourite at the moment. Betting podcast featuring a couple of horse racing bods and the excellent Nick Goff. Please listen to it so that they don't give up on it.
It made me feel better when I backdated it and realised the first time he got shirty about Wenger and the 'obvious' Mike Dean penalty was the day before he'd quit the fags. I thought Ken had been quite arsey about fans questioning that one. Then it clicked.
Cheer up? How about you fucking wake up? is definitely my go to reply from now on. Don't have many friends.
Marcotti wasn't even shit today.
Ken v Dunphy.
Giggles hasn't posted about it because he's too busy pre-cumming.
I'm going to give an episode or two of "My Dad Wrote A Porno" a go. It sounds entertaining.
While a football podcast with Jimbo, Horncastle and Marcotti does sound quite good. I'm not sure I give enough of a single shit about Serie A to listen to this.
That is purely fuelled by 90s nostalgia, right? Does anyone have it in them to do a decent La Liga one talking about the good football that's happening now?
Less Radio 1 (which I have no stomach for, and every time a Matt Edmondson or Greg James turns up on my telly I want to turn it off), more the sort of nerdy comedians they get on Mock the Week, QI, etc. Which suits me as I'm a bit of a sucker for that sort of thing.
I've listened to three episodes today and enjoyed it very much. I think the idea of the stuff having been written as a serious endeavour is actually more wince-inducing than the mere idea of it being your own dad doing it.
I'll start one then. Anyone want to split the costs of a studio and producer (5k each or so), and talk about Real Betis with me for an hour?
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 4 league goals is happening with Real. They've never recovered from that ridiculous ban he got for pushing a ref (or whatever it was).
Four? Fucking hell.
I just found out Andy Cole played for Arsenal due to an interview with Merson on 'Quickly Kevin, Will He Score' (a 90s football podcast hosted by Josh Widdicombe).
Maybe I did know that and I'd just forgot? Seems a weird thing to have never known.
It's a proper pichichi race this year.
17 Messi
13 Suarez
11 Iago Aspas
10 Zaza (collapses laughing)
Old greaseman has only 5 in 16 as well.
It's been in our Trivia thread about three times.
I avoid that place like the plague. I'm shit at trivia.
Is there no sport on today's SC?
Just stuck on that Blindboy one to see what all the fuss is about.
Jesus, he's a fucking imbecile. As long time since I've heard such unadulterated wank.
I love him.
I've been enjoying it lately as well. I can see why Giggles would detest it though.
I don't disagree with most of what he's saying but he's just very very bad at it.
What don't you like about it?
He's extremely expressive and that's what makes it good imo.
His accent makes me want to rip my own face off, so it’s a no from me.
The likes of the story in the podcast I listened to about buying a keep warm cup from Amazon. The whole story was absolute drivel totally fabricated to get to the point he wanted to make instead of just making it. It wouldn't have been too bad only for the absolute blind leaps he was making in it to try make it fit.
TFS is live in Vicar St tonight. I never listen but I'm near sorry I didn't get tickets just for the Pat Nevin DJ set beforehand.
It seems all podcast live shows are legally bound to Dublin.
I went to see Football Ramble live in London about 4 years ago, it was pretty good.
I think the only sport one I seen was FW with the old lineup, but I've went to a good few others. Decent enough way to spend an evening which I wouldn't have thought originally. Got to the second captains TV show once too, though they weren't put out as podcasts like their radio shows of the time were.
Wasn't going to listen to the SC interview with Kimmage as I detest the prick but it wasn't bad at all. Headcases are always entertaining.
I’m about 40 episodes into Casefile and loving it. Great shout whoever posted that in here originally (SVN maybe?). Anyone know of more like that? I listen to “serial killers” but can only do it in bursts before the hosts begin to grate.
Other pods include
Football Ramble
On the continent
Quickly Kevin (back this week finally)
Totally Football Show
Yeah I love Casefile, it's probably my favourite podcast. There aren't many shit episodes.
"They Walk Among Us" is a UK equivalent, but isn't quite as good, and the crimes are typically a bit more tame. Plus, the narrator's speaking style takes a while to get used to.
Quickly Kevin is a surprisingly great listen. They manage to get their guests to be rather frank (compared to the usual media-managed shit).
That said, not really looking forward to Dixon next week .
On the subject of casefile, I got 2 and a bit episodes into the East Area Rapist 6 parter, curiosity got the better of me and I wiki'ed the case

What's Casefile then? I mean it's obviously a thing about real crimes but is it them looking specifically at unsolved stuff or what?
I'm till on MDWAP and Football Weekly, as well as the RPS one and I'll cherry-pick ones I fancy from the Steve Austin Show and the Edge & Christian one. I went back and listened to their "Anatomy of a Match" with Michaels and Foley which I really enjoyed.
Some are solved, some are unsolved. It's just a podcast that tells the story of a crime. It usually just sticks to the facts, and doesn't try to be overdramatic - and the research they do is incredible, so it's really in depth. They sometimes use real sound clips from police interviews/911 calls which can really add to the sense of intrigue.
Hm. Might give that a bash.
I've only listened to the Jonestown one but it was fascinating.
